is this for single ram?

[Sergiy Dvodnenko 2024-06-16 a8efd15] Rework main sdram to use only one chip for better compatibility with older sdram modules.
What a legend
Now I wonder if dual ram build is needed. Also read that 4chip rams might be working better also? Would be good if that's true.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I still have antonio's 4 chips version that I use in dual ram setup, I'll see if it works with it in single.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I can confirm after testing, that Antonio's special ram is working properly now on all the game tested (10 games). No audio glitches to report and no crashes. I guess the ones who waited before buying a new kit got rewarded! (I'm not one of them sadly XD)

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I don't regret it, let's just say it was a perk to enjoy saturn games a bit early ;p
But it turns out Antonio's custom modules are great they just needed to be accounted for.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I would argue they are poor and its lucky that a fix to only use 1 chip was found.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
When we talk about it months and months ago I argued that this would probably happened towards the end of the developement cycle of the core and it did. It's a great news for people who could wait, it also means less e-waste, and now we are about to get ram module for 20$, everyone wins!
Peace

@srg230,
Thanks so much for your latest update!
It is awesome. Radiant Silvergun worka like a charm...it doen't freeze at all and the music is simply perfect!
Tested with both 2.5 and 3.0 RAM modules!
Thanks again!
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
One of my fav. game ist Die Hard Arcade.
But this game changes the resolution every time when entering a new areal.
On digital display thats a problem because that results in a black screen for a few seconds by switching resolution 2 times.
Then you did not "see" the quick time sequences or get punch.
On CRT this is no Problem.
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
You can try using vsync_adjust=0. I remember it used to improve those cutscenes.

I didn't see anything in the changes since the last official release that would require MiSTer Main changes, so I'm pretty sure it will work fine.
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I’m getting a black screen when I start NiGHTS. USA version in CHD format.
Other games work great.
Anything I can try?
EDIT: nvm I just had to press some buttons at the black screen and it goes to title screen!
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Anyone got a solution for the aspect ratio 'full screen' that is missing on the Saturn core? In 240p120Hz on my PC CRT monitor the image is squished.
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Same here. I brought this up a while back and there was at least one other person with the same issue. I'm not sure we ever received an official response, but I seem to remember someone saying later on that full screen in the OSD usually isn't added until the core is 100% finished.
A solution would be nice.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
I never download the unstable builds, so I thought I'd ask those who do...
Does Battle Garegga have music now? The last update_all build doesn't have music when I run the game.
Just wondering. One of my favorites.

Not really. There is crackle at the "Raizing" logo and that's it.

Don't want to sound rude, but downloading the latest unstable build and putting it on the card takes less time then typing the post.

I tested this single Ram version, and it's just like i said. So, only the Dual Ram build seems to work fine here for now.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Ok, i take it back. The single Ram "Saturn_unstable_20240929_15da53.rbf" core has CD audio too for Battle Garegga. Make sure you get a proper multi bin/cue redump image. Got a single bin/cue before and that one was borked.
