Not sure what board my VGA one uses, but it doesn't seem to have a backlight control either, just general brightness/contrast controls.
Maybe try contacting Laserbear and see if he can give you any advice.
Also maybe try a different PSU if you can, the 12V one that came with mine is possibly the lightest one I've ever had...
To clarify, is the reason people say not to use the included HDMI cable because it is poor quality/faulty or because it can't do 2048x1536@60hz? I used it for a bit and it did that resolution fine with my RTX 4070, but now I'm worried it could've damaged something.

Yes, the included HDMI cable simply didn’t have the required bandwidth for proper native resolution; there was no indication of any sort of possible damage.
Of course it’s possible that the cable has been upgraded since then by various vendors.

They blocked the Netherlands as well, a while ago, a friend of mine wanted to buy one.
I did hear multiple stories about people receiving ones with all kinds of problems before I knew that we were blocked. So maybe they have been scraping the bottom of the barrel with the quality of the iPad displays they are using.
I do have one, so they were available to us before that.
Sad to hear them blocking entire countries from sale.
My advice, DIY. Aquire the driver controller and bid on ebay for broken ipads. best bet is to buy a 'lot' of a few.
the best ones are 'icloud locked' but sometimes the value are lots with shattered screens, a lot of the time the underlying LCD is perfectly fine!

The screen is working via my OSSC also with my MacBook but for a reason that I don't known, I have no image with the mister.
try modifying the INI file
try changing the HDMI
Nothing!

UPDATE : after reseting the screen in the OSD MENU got finally an image 
UPDATE 2 : it's not the reseting that help but it's when I plug my OSSC that the mister FPGA can work... I don't understand it seems that the HDMI need to be plugged to make the mister work... crazy
UPDATE 3 : it seems that my cable are in cause

Yes, this is pointed out in the very first post:

do not use the included mini-HDMI cable, it isn’t capable of handling the full resolution, get a high-speed HDMI-to-mini-HDMI from a reputable supplier instead — I use the AmazonBasics one, works fine.
