Yes. I had a black and white image for all cores at first, until I updated my MiSTer.ini to a newer version. I was missing some entries, as described in this thread:

Mostly I had to set composite_sync=1 and vga_mode=svideo.

Thanks, I meant saturation adjustments, etc. Were those in MiSTer.ini or adjustments in the capture card?
Those are all from the capture card settings, it's effectively part of the external display.
Even on real hardware, each CRT is slightly different and you have to calibrate the "knobs" to match the colors on screen. Even so it's not always possible to match two separate CRT displays, as some units have more wear that affect the picture, etc. Joys of the analog world!
On MiSTer, aside from using palettes (if the core supports it) there is a general option to adjust Gamma settings.
You can try that to fine-tune the colors after choosing a palette. But first I'd suggest tweaking the CRT to try to make it closer to MiSTer's output.
I've just tried to play Ultima II using 4am's crack version of the 1989 reissue. Write protect is off, but I can't get saves to work. The player character I create doesn't seem to save (the game reports "no character on disk" and won't start) and also in game saving after pressing Q doesn't register (for the latter I used a Player Master disk with a character made on emulator on PC).
I've been away from this core and Apple ][ in general for a while, so not sure whether I'm missing something obvious?
Thanks, but how exactly I'd go about this? The core doesn't read disks with this extension...do you mean some other format, or a way of making it work?
The .nib format should work
A while back I created a bunch of blank disks to use as "save slots" with the core:

Thank you, this did the trick. I actually did use a .nib disk I had for that, but it didn't work - perhaps it was full or not formatted properly.
