outputting midi from real STE to gbmidi and / or genmidi ?

Unread post by Syntax Error »

I just booted the cores this week, i had the wrong impression they were like trackers you could write saveable .mod or .sng or similar tunes with it but they look like synths that need midi input. Now i recently acquired an Atari STE again after so many years since the boy.
So i was wondering if its possible or if anyone has any experience in how to connect Atari STE midi out (running cubase or any midi prg that works) to the mister and use it as a synth.
I'm speculating here that more midicores will appear over time it would be pretty awesome
(tho if the cores comes with trackers included i could live with that i guess but having real STE to midi would certainly be closer to that zone away from this dreaded world of humans

Any experience with or info or howto is welcome, even cheezburgers or funny cats but preferably useful info

thanks in advance anyone who finds time to answer

For optimal timing, think you need a mister-specific active adapter for the 5-pin din to USB for the user port. (And then naturally a classic 5-pin midi cable.) There's a bunch of them out there, here's legacypixel's.

an actual answer on an expert forum !

nah seriously this looks really useful and just what i want , the IO board seems to have both midi in and out and says tested on megaSTE ... 30usd means probably not more than 100-150 euros by the time its here (salems lot, europe) and i think i have a stack of DOGEcoins somewhere lol (omg ...)

thanks!!!!!!!!!!! much appreciated this might be just what im looking for, if there's more synth cores coming that box is gonna be the best machine since the c64
