"SNK Neo Geo AES & MVS" is listed under Console Cores, not Arcade Cores. There is also a link to Jotegos Cores pointed to his personal repo. The separation is a little strange. Fortunately, there is good documentation on how to submit a pull request.

Qix also done some years ago, you might need to compile it to see state it's at - https://github.com/EisernSchild/FAMI

Interesting. Wow, that is old code. I do see MiSTer specific files there, but the framework would need to get a big update.

Another missing classic is Pole Position. There's a very old video of someone who made an FPGA version of it. The same situation with Sega's Monaco GP, which is a discrete logic game.

Pole Position is complicated by the fact that is the only somewhat popular system to run on Zilog Z8000 processors. I don't know if there's an available HDL replica of this CPU to build the core around.

Interesting cpu, 16bit in 1979, came to the market months before Motorolas 680000. I wonder why it wasn't more popular? At the time, expensive I guess.

At least Pole Position 1 & 2 are on the Namco Museum discs for PS1. Haven't fired them recently but I used to have a lot of fun playing them with a NeGcon

I need to try that, I have a lot of NeGcon controllers, they are fantastic for WipEout.

I wonder if you could play the Namco Museum PS1 Pole Position, with the Namco Jog Con controller ?
That would be epic, as Pole Position is hard to get the controls right with emulation, as the original had a continuous steering wheel.

If the original supported it and you're using SNAC, I don't see why not.

Actually, I'm playing RRT4 and VRally 2 with a JogCon right now on MiSTer (and with a Topdrive Reactor, which is a really cool driving controller, that supports JogCon as well). Will test in a moment, I'm not expecting anything, as JogCon support is super rare. Maybe it will support neGcon.

I've actually tried to use JogCon on MiSTer via SNAC a few months ago, but I couldn't force it to switch to NeGcon compatibility mode on system start.
Shoutouts to Taito for coding proper JogCon recognition in Arkanoid R 2000, only to make it limited to saying that this controller is not supported.

Yeah, please report back. I was hoping that, because Namco Museum is from Namco, and the Jog Con was also Namco's, then they might have support for it. I would test this myself, but I am moving everything around in my games room, and the Mister isn't connected up. I have, for now, gone back to Batocera, mainly because Batocera supports the main popular PC/Console Steering Wheels, right from the off - no drivers needed, just plug in a supported wheel and ALL games, in ALL emulators that have wheel; support just work. Wish Mister was like this, but there is a lot more faffing around, at the moment.

Thanks for testing. That is a real shame. I can't get on with the NegCon, it's the twisting that just doesn't feel right for driving, it kind of feels weird.
In MAME, one device that works well with Pole Position is a Spinner, with a Plastic Round Hand Wheel attached to the center pin, rather than a spinner knob, so you have a small constant spinning wheel, and it's superb - with really precise control, which also works well with the Super Sprint games.

Ok, massive edit. Just been talking with a friend who was Playstation mad, and he said the Namco Museum Pole Position worked with the Mad Catz Playstation Steering Wheel - on the wheel, you select analogue mode, and it emulates the NegCon controller. These things are like around £10 - £20, so I am buying one now on eBay, and will report back when it arrives.

I absolutely love the neGcon for WipEout games, but I can totally understand that the twisting action feels odd for driving games.

The Logic3 TopDrive Reactor is like an RC car controller, but I think it is a bit rare. It allows you to play some of the neGcon games (like WipEout 3SE and Gran Turismo) with dual shock effects, which aren't available on a regular neGcon and can even translate those effects to the force-feedback wheel.

Most PS1 steering wheels support neGcon mode, as that was the only option at the time for proper analog controls, without a massive deadzone. IIRC with the PS2, Sony at one point decided that the official Gran Turismo steering wheel should be used for racing games and neGcon support died.

For Wipeout, that might work, haven't tried it yet.
