I've finally finished assembling my MMS enclosure over the holidays (after a mishap of not ordering the right kind of nuts at first). Everything is fine and dandy now.

I'm now looking at buying some SNAC adapters, and I'm a bit confused as to what to get, and possibly what position to set J17 to. The MMS manual says that it has a "built-in level shifter", is this what J17 is for (passing through the level shifter or not)?

So my questions are:

• Is it actually compatible with the Multisystem (says it requires analog 6.1, not sure what the Multisystem is equivalent to)?
• Which position will I need to set J17 to?

Is there anyone having menu button problem with Multisystem? I've received the board on last Tuesday and has been troubled since then. The menu button've not worked at all, I've tried to re-install the system and tested J12 behind SW4, but nothing happened.

This is an old post so I suspect you won't see it.

Test it without the 3D button installed. 100% of the cases that people indicated that the front buttons didn't work were always related to 3D printing.

We're also introducing a number of new features at MMS, and today I'm going to share you 4 new small projects that work beautifully. 1) A new memory BGA ICs, making a highly-effective use of pcb space, the tracks are much shorter and with trace tune length. There's less distance between the memories and the GPIO / FPGA, very stable and fully compatible with all cores. Basically the size of the I/O connector. We have designed it horizontal but also vertical, making it independent and compatible not only with MMS but with our best projects such as Jammix I/O or the official add-ons and cases. One for all and all for one. 2) The following will be a dual-port front HDMI SNAC that works perfectly with our HDMI cables. The regular SNAC mini HDMI has always worked on MMS and I've answered that question above, however this version without level-shifter (already onboard) is designed to match the frontal panel of the new beautiful low profile cases. 3) and a vertical stand for the new low profile cases, aka PS2 style, making the design even more incredible. 4) I'll leave for another day because we also have to rest (and play games) and look after the family.

It's a great piece of hardware that's basically the perfect entrypoint into the MiSTer ecosystem for most people, and it's reassuring to know that I'll be able to continue to get parts/replacement systems in the future should I ever need them or want another MMS

Absolutely love my own MMS and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone interested in a console-style form factor that supports both HDMI and analogue output.

Does the expansion slot have a way to send analog audio back into the system:

• in a way that passes through an analog-to-digital converter, combines with core audio, and goes out over HDMI, or

• in a way that mixes with analog audio out?

Use case would be an expansion slot board that has a Roland-style 26 pin wavetable header, such that it could be used with a Dreamblaster X2GS.

If not through the expansion slot, is there anywhere else on the Multisystem board to inject analog audio for mixing into the analog out? The Dreamblasters could be hooked up via internal USB, then the audio wired from the daughterboard's wavetable header.

If nothing else, there's always an external mixer as an option, but that's yet another box to hook up.

For clarity, with regard to point #1)

This new Ram module would simply replace the existing onboard 128, not add and allow for 'a Dual Ram' configuration, due to the design of the MMS, correct?

If so, it sounds like if things are working normally with the Ram you have, you may not need or benefit from a new module.

Do I have that right?

The new memory is one of the first of several updates we're making to the MMS. We started with the BGA module mainly because the original memory module simply didn't work with the previous SATURN cores. If the original ram work great for you don't change. New bundles are just sold with new rams. New memory modules don't make it dual ram.

Hi, We generally make the models available when we have covered our costs for the design / development, that's just so we can continue to make more and keep releasing interesting things for Multisystem.
The PSX Cart is very new, only sold a few on the shop and the cart stand we have sold just 3
People asked for these to be made, so I hope a few more will buy them as we have many more new products in development.

Makes sense. Especially for the stand, but for those who bought the carts, that would be a nice bonus, since without the pcb files theres not much one can do with the shell.

Edit: oh yeah, i guess people could try to sell them.
I would pay for the stl, sooner than I'd pay for shipping a finished one. I'd like to be able to choose the color and material. This could be a good way to pay for the dev costs. Tack on a +5 <currency> to your cart order and you get the stl!

I would have purchased the stand with mine had I seen them and combined shipping, I didnt look hard enough before checkout.

I suppose with the other case stls it wouldnt be toooo painful to make my own model. But cheers for making them, very cool solution to juggling carts.

As long as you're asking:

A wavetable header cartridge. Plug a Dreamblaster X2GS into a pin header on the cart, plug the card into the expansion slot, and it plays MIDI audio from ao486 back into the audio out. (Presumably, analog out only, unless you get Serdaco to make you a Dreamblaster that outputs PCM on two of the unused header pins.)

I have no idea if it's possible, but hey, you asked what we wanted.

Has anyone else had the problem with assembly where the cover simply won't attach to the main case? I have removed the nuts and reinserted numerous times, but no matter what I do, it seems like the included screws just aren't long enough. I got everything else put together fine (although very difficult at times since my left hand doesn't work, but it's all put together and working well, it's that damned to lid

Glad you are enjoying the Multisystem. The lid has a number of trapped nuts that need to be correctly inserted and pulled down before you first fit the lid screws. When the M3 nuts are in place and fully pulled down, they lock tight and after that it's super simple to use the M3 bolts to secure the lid.

The same is true of the Slice base, it can attach to the lower section of the MMS base, but only if the M3 nuts have been fitted correctly.

The majority of those sounds are clipped but I'm not sure if that's digital or analogue clipping.

What's your spec? Using a normal DE10 or one of the new clones?

Not quite sure I understand the question, are you not getting any audio, even HDMI digital or SPDIF (Toslink) - or is it just analogue audio that's not working for you?

If you are not getting digital audio out of the HDMI, check the MiSTer INI file to see if you have it set to be DVI output. That will not output Audio.

Also check the bank of 8 switches on the Multisystem - SW1 - these can isolate various HDMI signals. Put them all ON for no isolation.

Are you using the original Terasic DE10-nano, or the Taki 'clone' or the QMTech (model 1 without SDRAM or Model 2 with SDRAM).

Have you made a brand new SD card using Mr Fusion?

Where did you get the Multisystem board from? (it's open-source hardware).

Right now, you're probably thinking, "SATA-to-USB adapters are cheap and readily available. Why do you want us to make one?" Answer is, to reduce the number of connectors I have to bodge together and then hide inside the limited volume of the case. I want to eliminate the extra USB port in the middle, especially if it's something I have to wrap or heat-shrink to prevent a short.

I'd purchase a kit containing the following:

• A SATA bridge PCB with a 9-pin connector on the PCB, which would plug directly into the SSD

• A 9-pin-to-9-pin jumper cable, shielded

• Two USB port cover boots, to push into the overridden USB ports

You could use the 19-pin USB 3.0 connector on the bridge end, if you see yourself doing a Multisystem 2.0 in the future (post DE-25 nano, if that even becomes a relevant thing for MiSTer).
