Road Rash 2-Player Working For Anyone?

I can't seem to get Road Rash into 2P mode despite selecting 2 players in the settings menu. Should it be working?

Road Rash doesn't have a 2-player mode. Where do you see this option?

It isn't at the same time

1st player races and then 2nd player races

Ah too bad. It was split screen on the 3DO and it was awesome.

I don't doubt it. I'm just sure I'm not misremembering it on the 3DO.

Weird, because even the manual says it's played in turns:

Player Mode
You can play solo or you and an enemy can take turns racing.

Road Rash 2 on the Genesis was apparently split screen. I remember Road Rash on the 3DO being split screen but apparently the manual says it was not.
