Regarding the second, they can be anywhere. You just navigate to the CHD wherever it is when selecting the Removable CD drive.

Thank you. I might copy again the files just in case that's the first issue...

I'm having trouble making this core work. I have followed the steps in https://amiga.vision/docs the only step different is that I have my games folder in an external SSD. I have two problems.

First, when I launch the Amiga core the screen stays black. It seems that the MegaAGS.hdf is recognized in the drives option so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

https://amiga.vision/docs#why-doesnt-am ... rnal-drive

The configuration is likely still looking for your Kickstart file in the SD card path. There is currently no way to make this configuration relative in a way that works both on SD and SSD. Go to the MiSTer menu → System → ROM, and point it to the location of the file on your SSD instead. Remember to save the configuration if that fixes it.

Thank you limi! I'll try that this evening, most likely it's that.

Update: indeed that was it! I should've read more carefully the troubleshooting section. Thanks again

No problem! I added an additional note in the installation section to make sure SSD/NAS users are aware.

(…of course, unlike you, most people don’t read the documentation, so this is academic at best) 😅

No new release today, I guess, with a certain site being continually DOSssed for the last 2 days...??

Was an updated version released yesterday? I guess not because of the archive.org situation.

Hi limi , as a long time user of amiga vision on mister, i decided to give it a try on real hardware as well.
I just installed AmigaVision 2024.08.18 on my machine( amiga 1200 with 030 accelerator)

You did excellent job as well , it is simple to add and have most things working out of the box.

Just few remarks ,
directory opus has too big fonts for real amiga , this didnt happen with previous versions , i need to change them back all to topaz 8 and now everything is good , something was probably forgotten in scripts as it was working good before but it is minor thing.

Just what i noticed and it is small request , can you add support for PCMCIA compact flash cards out of the box ?
I have PCMCIA CF adapter of amiga and i needed to add it manually in fsuae, (fat95 and CFD drivers )and then to burn the image again.
I know you are specialized for mister but this would be nice touch for Real hardware.

Will do some test during the week and will give some more feedback if you are interested.
Best Regards

Yes, it was an error in a script, it is fixed in the next version.

If you can do some testing and tell me what’s necessary, I can certainly look into it and if it needs to be conditionally excluded for MiSTer.

Our goal is certainly to be the best Amiga setup for real hardware and emulators too! It just started as a MiSTer-focused project originally.

Credit where due, you're admirably succeeding in that goal. I had opportunity to recommend AV on the EAB forums just yesterday because it was the ideal solution for a back-in-the-day less-technical Amiga user. Thank you for ALL the effort you've clearly poured in over a long period of time...the polish really shines!

here is the summary of what is needed : https://sites.google.com/one-n.co.uk/am ... authuser=0

in nutshell download 2 lhas from aminet :
from CFD.lha
compactflash.device copied to devs
cf0 to Devs:DosDrivers/CF0
cf0.info to Devs:DosDrivers/CF0.info

from FAT95.lha
fat95 copied to
L:fat95

there are also some card reset , card patches but for me everything is working fine without them but someone who knows better can comment if they are necessary.
and yes , it should be excluded for Mister as Mister has other way of sharing the data between other machines and amiga , while on real amiga having PCMCIA cf card adapter is usually the easiest solution

Filed it here, will get to it for the next release, and will probably ask you to help me test, since I am not using PCMCIA with my A1200: https://github.com/amigavision/AmigaVision/issues/221

Here is a way to start CD32 games from command line. Just leaving this here since I want to implement CD32 with Super Attract Mode and maybe other people want to mess around with it. I'd also appreciate if someone tests this to see if it works on other setups.

This script edits the AmigaCD32.cfg file with the new file path:
cd32_cfgmod.sh

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh

if [ $# -ne 2 ]; then
    echo "Usage: $0 <config-file> <new-game-path>"
    exit 1
fi

CONFIG_FILE="$1"
NEW_GAME_PATH="$2"

# **Always write at offset 3100**
START_BYTE=3100
CLEAR_LENGTH=108 # Make sure we clear enough for full filename

echo "Zeroing out existing data at offset: $START_BYTE"

# **Zero out only the path section (not the header)**
dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=$CLEAR_LENGTH seek=$START_BYTE of="$CONFIG_FILE" conv=notrunc

echo "Sanitizing the game path..."

# **Remove '/media' prefix if present**
NEW_GAME_PATH=$(echo "$NEW_GAME_PATH" | sed 's|^/media||')

# **Ensure no leading double slashes**
NEW_GAME_PATH=$(echo "$NEW_GAME_PATH" | sed 's|^/||')

# Ensure the path starts with `../` (if needed)
if [[ "$NEW_GAME_PATH" != ../* ]]; then
    NEW_GAME_PATH="../$NEW_GAME_PATH"
fi

echo "Writing path: $NEW_GAME_PATH"

# Convert the new game path to a clean hex string
NEW_GAME_HEX=$(echo -n "$NEW_GAME_PATH" | xxd -p | tr -d '\n')

# Ensure proper padding with 00 bytes if path is shorter than max allowed length
HEX_PADDING=$(yes "00" | head -n $((CLEAR_LENGTH - ${#NEW_GAME_HEX} / 2)) | tr -d '\n')

# Combine actual data and padding
FINAL_GAME_HEX="${NEW_GAME_HEX}${HEX_PADDING}"

# Convert hex string into binary and write at the correct path offset
echo -n "$FINAL_GAME_HEX" | xxd -r -p | dd of="$CONFIG_FILE" bs=1 seek=$START_BYTE conv=notrunc

echo "Successfully wrote new game path to $CONFIG_FILE at offset $START_BYTE"

Launch with

Code: Select all

./cd32_cfgmod.sh /media/fat/config/AmigaCD32.cfg "/media/usb0/games/AmigaCD32/Disposable Hero (1994).chd"

Launch core:

Code: Select all

echo "load_core /media/fat/_Console/Amiga CD32.mgl" >/dev/MiSTer_cmd

Emulate button b with virtual keyboard: (requires SAM)

Code: Select all

/media/fat/Scripts/.MiSTer_SAM/mbc raw_seq :30

Update: Fixed 32cd to cd32

Thanks! You might want to make it cd32 instead of 32cd to make things predictable/consistent :)
