Sound in Windows 95

Unread post by Chris23235 »

With the latest update of the core the sound in Windows 95 stopped working for me, has anybody an idea what drivers we should install now. Windows now detects an Creative Soundblaster, if I recall correct, it was a Soundblaster or Compatible in earlier versions. I tried to re-install the Soundblaster Driver from the Win95 CD, this didn't work and the SB drivers from Creative's website also didn't work.

For me removing the old SoundBlaster from device manager and searching for new hardware (it should find a SB16 now) did the trick. I'm using the drivers on the Win95 CD.

Figured it out after reading the Readme again, it is now a Soundblaster 16, this driver works fine. Now Win95 complains about a missing MSSBLST.VXD but otherwise works. Google shows me this seems to be a common problem in Win95. I will look for the file now.

I simply forgot that the hardware detection on Win95 worked quite well :)
