Funny matches
Thx for reporting.
If no exact matching picture exist we look for alternatives.
Works fine normally.
The core name of the Moon Alien core is „moonaln“.
And the first slightly matching picture was „mo“ which is the one for the thomson.
We will take a look.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Yeah, this is the result from our "search engine" if no exact match exists. This shortens the given core's "setname" character by character until something matches or none found, and this is "mo"
Moon Alien isn't really a core but an alternative/hack/homebrew, but has an official entry in the MAME list on which all cores are named. Based on this information the result is
Just run update_tty2oled.sh and you'll be happy.
This is a real homebrew game and no marquee file exists. According to it's MRA file, this game is based on Puck Man, the Western Germany version of Pacman. Someone has to create an appropriate image/marquee/banner for it.

And while being there and cleaning up things, I found some nice marquees from my tty2rpi project which are easy to convert.

Nothing to thank for. Just extended my "Push-Script" to keep this automagically up to date from now on. Shouldn't happen again.

...is already possible and working, but for now not with ESP devices. See tty2rpi Add-On (shows core based pictures and videos on a HDMI or DSI display)

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
The latest Testing Version of the tty2oled Display Firmware got Support for the newer ESP32-S3 MCU.
If you like to test this, enable "testing" for you.
See: https://github.com/venice1200/MiSTer_tt ... ngoptional
Used ESP32-S3 Pins:
Code: Select all
OLED_MOSI 1
OLED_MISO 45
OLED_SCLK 39
OLED_CS 18
OLED_DC 17
OLED_RESET 8
TILT_PIN 1 (Optional)

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Hey all.. a few problems. Maybe someone can help.
I have another prebuilt tty2oled by way of: www.antoniovillena.es (an ESP8266)
Which seems to work when the attract mode kicks in... but on the main MENU I don't get the Mister kitty logo. Just the TTY2OLed logo screen (version 221030) then MENU as text. Also, my GSC images look a bit strange, almost reversed. No matter what I do I can't get SAM attract mode disabled, either. Related?
Core GSC pictures seem to only work in attract mode. If I select something manually, I only get text.
Oops.. fixed!

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
I basically deleted the tty2oled directory and allowed it all to update again, and it auto recognized everything.

Any way to hide the tty2oled logo before the Menu logo shows?

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
@venice Yeah, I'd rather it not show at all.
Just the Main MiSTer logo and whatever core. Literally the first thing I see when I turn on the mister is the text showing "TTY2OLED" itself.
I'd like to make that go away.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
This logo is shown by the display controller itself and it's used to see if the communication between the MCU and the Display is working.
If you like to remove the Startup Screen you need to modify the source code.
But then you can't use the Update Script for getting new FW Versions.
It's not configurable on MiSTer side.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
The pictures were already there but were missing in the sheet, so I took that as an occasion to update both plus an alternative to Red Baron.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
I just realized that all new pictures from 03/23 'till today weren't updated by update_tty2oled.sh because GitHub accidentally published their own private key used for secure communication, which required an intervention on our Build- and Picture Server.
Fixed and working again. Hooray!
(SHAME ON YOU, GitHub! This was a beginner's mistake!)

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Yeah, now where my tty2rpi is up and well, I'm already having almost all Marquees together. The aspect ratio of these pictures is almost identical to tty2oled, so converting pictures from tty2rpi to tty2oled is more or less only a "reduce colours and size".
One or the other picture has no candidate for a Marquee. I have to do a Dali there, but again the same: tty2rpi first, then tty2oled, done.
I am a lazy bitch

Sounds like an efficient way of doing things. I should have a look at tty2rpi again, I'm interested in seeing its current state.
Smart idea to use Dali if there are no suitable images, looks like that is working quite well.

Oi, is there a software named Dali? I think "Dali" was misleading. I meant "I'm doing it like Dali (Salvador)". Like "...doing a Bob Ross"
