Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
Donkey Kong now has high score save/load and pause (and by extension so does the dodgy Donkey Kong 3 bootleg and Radar Scope), enjoy

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
Had a quick look and the core should support it no problem - it's now on the list (behind Moon Patrol and Dig Dug)

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
Hmm, pretty sure alanswx already did the Pac Man core a while back, which should include Ms Pac-Man.. Can you test it and confirm if it works or not please?
Galaga is being a pain in the rear... it saves fine but then on load you only get the last two digits and 63 credits!!! More work to be done :/

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
I have the MiSTer in a Arcade cabinet and there is nothing worse than when someone excitedly puts in their initials and asks if they will stay there and I have to say no. Of course once saving works on all the cores no one will get near the high scores table. It will just be my initials all the way down
By the way, the Tetris arcade game displays the highest scorers initials in the tetris blocks in the attract mode demo.

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
I went out to the github and grabbed the .mra and the .rbf for Donkey Kong dated 3/21/2021..
Not sure what I could be doing wrong but it is not saving the high scores for me..
It for sure creates the .nvram file, in the normal place and all that but does not seem to load it when the game starts a second time??
Also, when I map the buttons, it does not actually map a pause button, should it??
Was sure a hell of a birthday present!! Has anyone else tested this??

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
@Jimmystones reached out to me on discord and we figured out the Donkey Kong high score thing.. It totally works.. for me, I had to make sure that the rbf line in the .mra was Donkey Kong and NOT DonkeyKong, then stuff worked.. Maybe I am just full of it or maybe it really was the fix, who knows, if your having issues give that a shot. Now I just need to post a few good scores!!

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
I know it's not the outcome the OP was looking for but there is an app called Arcade Sidekick that allows you to track your hiscores.
You can rate games, find other scores to compete against, join clubs and more.

Im just wondering if im missing a setting, game saves arent saving for me (i press save before i quit the core).
Is this in mister natively, or do i need to add anything in to get it working?

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
It is only available for certain games (I'm working through the list adding it), but for the supported games it should just work. What games have you tried?
(I'm going to get a list together of supported games for reference, will post here when it is available)

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
Running into some issues with Dig Dug and Moon Patrol (and Galaga still hates me), but Mr. Do is now supported. Thanks to a recent framework update by @sorgelig this one also comes with (optional) auto-pause when the OSD is open.

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
Does that mean it will easier to implement auto-pause in basically all cores in the future?jimmystones wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 6:37 pm Thanks to a recent framework update by @sorgelig this one also comes with (optional) auto-pause when the OSD is open.

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
It was already in non-arcade cores, but this opens up all the arcade cores to the possibility... For any of the cores I've already put pause in I will be retro-fitting it to when it's time to go through and update frameworks.

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
How exactly do you trigger a high score save?
Most times on Donkey Kong, when I reboot, come back later and the new high scores are gone.

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
That's fantastic! Galaga is one game where marathon sessions are pretty common so being able to pause and take a breather is much appreciated. Of course, that might spoil your "zen"...jimmystones wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 2:38 pm Galaga is finally done! Hiscore save/load + pause + pause when in OSD
