Does anyone know what "vintfix" is (part of the addition of cropping support)? I found out that whatever it is, if it's turned off, Iron Soldier 2 doesn't work.

The actual change is here:

The cropping change just added it as an option.

Interesting, thank you!

I thought the netlists were supposed to be the final version...I wonder what actual hardware does.

qq for any US Jaguar owners from back in the day that owned/played Pinball Fantasies - was the ball this fast and the physics this wonky on actual hardware? As someone intimately familiar with the Amiga version, this is nigh-on unplayable.

Please correct me if I am wrong but my basic understanding of the Jaguar is it has powerful chips in it that haven't had cores made, and game developers found them hard to develop for. It also had a less powerful Motorola chip found elsewhere that was easier for Devs to code to, but isn't as beefy. The core contains this more basic chip that a lot of Devs used to make the games, that didn't harness the systems full potential.

Im not the tex-pert on this but from what i recall and found the jag is built with the Motorola 68k (= the Atari ST and i think amiga 500 cpu) as the central chip which somewhat directs the "tom & jerry" and blitter and what not, how it all comes together is above my current knowledge, the object processor for instance pushes (mostly bitmap i think) data over a 64bit databus per phrase (byte - word - dword ... 64=phrase or soi read) which is why Atulhu called it a 64bit console (but effectively if it has to pull data from the cart rom (carts go up to 6mb of which 2mb "the first" are immediately in jag-ram)

whatever it has to pull out of the other 4 (or however much there is) goes over 32(!) bit databus so thats half speed transfer , again, the OP is actually something quite nice but howit all connects together with the blitter and the dsp <i>through</i> the motoral as actual "central" processing unit is above my understanding of Atulhu of Ctari's design plans

The thing is as far as i understand they released the console with unfixed quirks which leads to all kinds of strange code that has to be made so in order to have an <i>accurate</i> core some supercoredev would need to program the core with hardware "bugs" included b/c most of the original titles were probably written to deal with those

<i>except</i> the ones that tried to run on pure motorola probably but thats like not using 60% or more of whats in the machine

anyone who knows more or better please do expand or correct, im not the tex-pert as i said

i dont knowenough about fpga de10nanos and how it all works at program level but perhaps the 64bit databus is one of the main issues here trying to "accurately" copy the hardware into a software running on an fpga board

that last one's speculation b/ci really dont know enough about it

well to be complete and sorry for the double post i just checked abbaye des morts and alices moms sister (both aftermarket like most of the jag gamebase i suppose the moment Atulhu dropped it) and they seem to run fine. Only for a minute tho but the fact that they boot is a huge improvement over last time (when they ... didnt heh  )

more interested in seeing if our personal jagstudio game after compilation will run on a mister ... this is great

now : who's gonna give me an Atari Falcon core ??

Just popped in to say I only found out there was a single ram version of the core today and I've been playing the hell out of Tempest 2000. I am so happy! I was one of the weirdos who owned the Jag and 3DO back in the day and each of those consoles have one of my favourite games of all time. Thank you to the core devs!!!!
