I downloaded it to see if I could run it - it didn't work for me. Maybe I'll try on a fresh SD card

Downloaded it and followed the directions in the howto_niccc.txt file. Worked like a charm. Excellent work! I can't wait to see how this continues to progress.

Weird. The scph5501.bin and scph7001.bin roms worked for me... And it looks awesome!
EDIT: I'm an idiot with a corrupt scph1001.bin file

Good to know other BIOS also works. I didn't try yet.

I stuck with USA BIOSes as I'm unsure if anything in the BIOS would be influenced by timings, etc.

Why are people saying it wont have analog out? I ran the beta core yesterday with the demo on my CRT. Or is it some other type of Analog that is meant?
It did have a strange black stripe that kept scrolling over the display though and I figured that might be because I was using a CRT.

Make the additions to your mister.ini file as recommended in howto_niccc.txt and you should be able to get rid of that pesky black stripe.

Another PlayStation core update showing the first part of BIOS now booting up on the MiSTer FPGA.

A Bit of "bad" news regarding the core is that for sound we might need a dual sdram setup for the first full release anyway. It might be redirected on the DDR3 in an updated version but this was not a promise, sounded more like a hopeful thought. My qestion though, is how would that work with custom build, I have Antonio Villena's Mister and the board is not stock at all I think... would it even be possible to have dual sdram on this board? Even if it fits, would have to remove the IO board? Also I'm gonna throw the stupid question in there, but would a higher capacity than 128 sdram help in this case? Is it even possible to have/build higher capacity sdram at all?
And don't take me wrong, It's awesome to see the core moving along so well. I'm just trying to anticipate a bit about what needs to be done for this to work at this best. I hope there will be easy way for everyone with a Mister to get a second sdram in there.

Maybe it´s a bit early to deal with all this topics. For the moment let´s hope the core reach a full working implementation. Later there will surely be enough time to think about it.
Just a thought

im glad to see such quick progress with this core, but if the dual SDRAM is needed, this will hinder several peoples setups who use SNAC, active cooling, VGA for other cores, dual SD cards, and the user buttons
kind of puts the playstation into a standalone MiSTer setup at that point,
or having to purchase a separate MiSTer specifically for the playstation if you use the IO board for other things
i agree tho, happy to see the PS1 getting developed, but definitely bummed out by that news.
maybe there will be a new IO board that allows for dual SDRAM and the other functions of the IO board ??

He did say he will try to figure out a way to used DDR3 for sound so that might be the way to get around this. And I'm also hopeful that if the interest is there we will see new addons available to take into account the PSX core needs.
