Thank you for the update. I read that mapper 413 is only used by the homebrew game Super Russian Roulette, which was released solely on cartridge and cannot be bought anymore. Has this game ever been dumped, so that it can be played on MiSTer?

What games do we get out of those mappers?

Think the Super Tilt Bros "Rainbow mapper" (

Useful list of NES games by Mapper.
http://tuxnes.sourceforge.net/nesmapper.txt
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/NES_MiSTer - supported mappers on page.
Check and compare these prior to requesting mapper support to be sure you don't just have a bad ROM, a misapplied translation/hack, or a translation/hack that doesn't necessarily work on original hardware, etc...

Hi Kitrinx,
I was pointed over here by reddit and I'd like to make a request.
Any chance that we can have the old multicart, The Golden Game, working on the NES FPGA core? This is a game that grew up with that has some compatibility issues and weighs a whopping 4MB. The rom file is generally named, "260-in-1.nes"
I understand that this is not going to be top priority but if there's some way to make it work on MiSTer FPGA, that would be awesome.
Thanks for hearing me out and thank you for your work!

I tried to play to the demo of this game (seems a very great homebrew)
https://eldenpixels.com/alwas-awakening-nes/ on Mister
But I have this message. Do you think it is an incorrect mapper or a mapper to add in the Mister Core ?

It appears to be using a variant of UxROM that is currently not supported by MiSTer. There has been an issue raised:
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/NES_MiSTer/issues/239.

Can mappers 121, 187, and 208 be added? They're for games made by Hummer Team (the devs behind somari). It would be nice to play the games that run on those, on the MiSTer.

A bit late to the party, but i've written a small application for Windows which can convert old type headers and scans for defective roms / headers.
See:
https://github.com/MostroW1502/N2HR/releases/tag/v1.0
(Requires .NET5 installed)
Hopefully this can be of use to some people, i've written this as a hobby exercise.

How stupid of me, seems something went wrong during the repository setup, i must've made a mistake somewhere because the source wasn't uploaded and it was still set to private.......
(it should be available now)

@MostroW,
haha, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to do this kind of mistake....
Thank you so much, now it works ! All my defective roms are now sorted.

worked fine with most of my roms,
only some roms after "convert headers" are not in the "working" or "Defective" folders, (for example the game "Alwa's Awakening" mentioned in this thread).

I'll have a look in a bit why it's considered defective, is it an official game or a homebrew / hack?
The only reason a rom is considered defective is that the prg / chr rom description in the header didn't match the actual filesize minus the header itself?
Also if a rom file that's being tested doesn't match the database's CRC32,SHA1 and SUM16 it will be skipped.
If you believe that the rom should actually work, then you can press CTRL+N on the main screen and a manual header editor will come up.
This will allow you to set up an header manually and write it once you loaded the rom which header needs to be replaced.
The PRG and CHR sections you can press up to increase size / bank count, it will increment in steps.
:EDIT:
I've looked it up on google, looks like a port of a PC game to the NES.
As far as i can see this game has yet to be released on cartridge and i can't find any dumps of it. (yet)

@moralek,
Alwa's Awakaning from
https://eldenpixels.itch.io/alwas-awakening-nes works fine on my side with the 160521 NES core.

I didn't expect the authors of this game to put it up for download on their website just like that, should've looked further it seems.
But the header supplied in their rom is NES 2.0 and compliant so it shouldn't be put in the defective folder?
I could potentially add a statement to the program where it copies out a rom to a "inverified" folder if there was no mention in the database of that particular rom.
It's meant to be the most if not all complete database at the moment, but i can imagine if there's new hacks or homebrew coming out that they're not present in that file.
Will add it to the program if people want it done, shouldn't take too long.

thanks for answering.
my problem:
I have 3136 roms
- Defective: 3 roms
- Working: 3089 roms
+++ Difference: 44 roms (including Alwa's Awakaning game)
maybe i don't understand how this works but ... it's impractical for me to manually search for 44 roms (my rom set has 3136)
(probably a third "ignored" folder works?)
**if you want I leave the suggestion in github so as not to deviate the topic
EDIT: excuse me I read very quickly, "inverified" folder would work for me.

I've altered the program to write unverified files to a "unverified" folder, this folder can also be manually set using the settings window.
You can also set the unverified folder to the same folder as the working folder so it basically merges the set if you don't care whether the header is NES2 or not.

I forgot I hadn't posted this here, but possibly of interest to some people. I made a table of all the NES mappers and what FPGA systems have implemented each one, MiSTer being on here along with NT Mini, Noir, N8s, Power Pak.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
I think it is up to date, but if any recent ones are missed can be added. If anyone would like to help maintain it then request access or ping me your email address.
So following on from a discussion on the discord, in order for the NES core to have support for the Famicom Datach add-on (a barcode reader with supported games) Mapper 157 would need added.
https://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/INES_Mapper_157
This would allow the games to be played, but an additional solution is needed in order to load the barcodes during play.

Thanks!
mapper 189 in mister should be changed to "yes"
I'm not sure if the thunder warrior works
but i just played a (pirate) game using mapper 189 just now
(It is also marked as available

Thanks, have updated so 189 is a YES for MiSTer. If you would like access to help keep it up to date I would welcome the help!
"Nt Nini JB Support" - I may be missing something obvious, but it's for mappers on the original NT Mini that is Jailbroken

Jikuu Yuten: Debias / Debias: Legendary Space-Time Hero
I've tried both the romhack translation as well as the original Japanese rom from the "No Intro" set. Both of them show garbled graphics on the screen. It seems the games uses the namco 206 mapper so maybe it isn't fully implemented yet.

@CRM, you need to use the rom from INes 2.0 to work correctly.
I don't know if the translated rom existed on INes 2.0 but the japanese one is ok on my side.
