Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.12.25 Released with Updated Game Configurations
That should be handled by the 1.3 patched shared FS driver that is included, but maybe that broke with the latest core updates?

I'm sorry I messed up....
The directory you link can be called anything...the Device Name should be called Share (not Shared as I mentioned earlier...the Volume on mine changed to Shared because of the folder I linked).
Ah, I missed that it was being attempted on WinUAE.
Then the easiest is to just comment out the line that mounts the shared drive in S:user-startup
(I think that’s where it is, if not it is in S:startup-sequence
)
Generally, we make these things conditional so they fail gracefully, but it’s harder to do on 1.2/1.3.
ah-ha. yes. setting the device name to 'share' worked.. many many thanks
Is there a way to default the menu screen to PAL?
It's always NTSC on a real Amiga and there doesn't seem to be a way to change this.
The easiest way is probably to load the background image of the AGS launcher in Deluxe Paint and save it as a PAL image instead of NTSC. The launcher should pick up on the change and show it in PAL instead.
We default to NTSC since a fair amount (most?) US consumer CRTs cannot handle PAL.
Yes, that will also work.
Thanks for the new release. I love the PD Golden Age and PD Silver Age focus lists! Awesome work!!!!
I found an issue with some garbled or missing sound fx on Space Taxi 3 on MiSTer. Here is a fixed slightly later version of the game (still labeled 3.0, but it is newer with bug fixes):
https://files.coolatoms.org/SpaceTaxi3_fixed.lha
It can just be extracted and replace the existing version in AmigaVision to fix sound fx and some other minor bugs in the game. I tested this.
Great! Would you mind filing a bug in the issue tracker? Busy days at the moment, but I will get to it.
I never played amiga before. I stumbled on this ruff & tumble on twitter someone recommending it,
it is a platformer, looks good to play, any other recommendations for platformers like this?
Some of my favorite platformers on the Amiga:
Lemon score / Game
8.87 Turrican II: The Final Fight (an AGA remake exists, but I prefer the original)
8.62 Ruff 'n' Tumble
8.45 Turrican
8.43 Superfrog
8.39 Traps 'n' Treasures
8.31 Arabian Nights (CD32)
8.19 Fire and Ice
8.11 Turrican 3
8.00 Rick Dangerous (Enhanced AGA)
7.99 B.C. Kid
7.88 The New Zealand Story
7.85 Gods
7.76 Giana Sisters Special Edition (AGA)
7.64 Chuck Rock (CD32)
7.49 Wolfchild
7.42 Switchblade II
7.42 Lethal Weapon
7.28 The Addams Family
6.55 Venus: The Flytrap
6.54 Alien 3
I think all or nearly all are included in the AmigaVision+MegAGS bundle.
Flood is a really fun game, the James Pond games are also good.
Ah finally with the amigavision image got the amiga cores going absolutely perfectly on the MISTER been one of my want to get right systems it is now fully
If you want full superhires detail in the score display of Super Stardust, set your Audio&Video->Pixel Clock option in the MiSTer Core Menu to "28 MHz," not "adaptive." See here: https://github.com/amigavision/AmigaVision/issues/158
I think 28 MHz should be the new default for AmigaVision because of this problem.
Good call, let me look into if it breaks any other games.
Got this working and updated on both my MiSTer and Pocket. A FINE pairing with my Bitmap Books Amiga visual compendium book!
limi, on my setup, for some reason, I had to put the settings in manually in the core. I also watched Video Game Esoterica's older install guide and paused on the settings screens to make sure my Amiga 'hardware' matched his in the video. Perhaps in the documentation for that, and the bonus/extras [Amiga 500, Amiga 500HD, Amiga 600HD] can include the real Amiga configuration settings for noobs?
REALLY great work and THANK YOU!!
If you copied the configuration files correctly, no need to do settings manually.
I'm sure for most people it is no issue. I did copy everything over per the instructions (and replacing any old files doing so). Something just didn't take on mine. I found Amiga settings at the bottom of this page under "What are the details of the MiSTer configuration?":
https://amiga.vision/docs#setup-for-mister
Would it be possible to add the settings for the extra configurations or will this lead to confusion? Either way, just an idea... that's just icing on an already glorious cake.
Off topic but I can't find anywhere else to ask, and trust me I've tried (not even had any joy in the PiStorm Discord).
Does anyone know how to get this working on a real Amiga1200 with PiStorm32-lite? I think it's down to the filesystem used but can't be sure. Last version that worked was 2023.04.05.
“Off-topic” → Start a new thread
Confirmed to work on real hardware like the CD32, but PiStorm introduces emulation into the mix, so I’ll let others comment on that.
When running this collection on my Mister any game labeled NTSC or PAL60 runs music way too fast.
What am I doing wrong?
Either remembering wrong or never having played the game correctly in the first place, in all likelihood. =)
NTSC games were 20% faster than PAL in many cases (depending on the timing mechanism used). If you were playing intended-as-NTSC titles in Europe back in the day, you would have potentially heard the sound (and gameplay, in all likelihood) much slower than intended.
If there's a specific title you're referring to where you are 100% certain it was a PAL-only release that is 'too fast', please indicate what it is and folks will no doubt chime in as to whether it's potentially mislabeled/set to run at the wrong speed in AmigaVision (but it's fairly unlikely!).
I think the later
There are heaps of titles doing it, and not only PAL60
I will have to go thru them and check if the same game on other systems but native 60 run the same or slower.
Thanks
So what you are saying is half of the titles that were released on Amiga were never properly optimized and thus made anyone who played these games have memories of a game that's playing slower than it really should?

When searching for Puzznic Amiga music for example, every one I find is the slower music, not fast like the NTSC patched version.
This is a song that was written and only available for Amiga I am pretty sure.

Only a relatively modest amount of Amiga games are NTSC or PAL60, most are PAL.
But yes, for example early Amiga games like Defender of the Crown and Wings (both from US software houses) were played by us Europeans at the wrong speed. And it definitely matters both for speed in a vector-based game like Wings, and to get the correct Pixel Aspect Ratio for the artwork in Defender of the Crown.
