Here's a version that uses eXoDOS v6 , plays music without the pops/clicks, uses a larger VHD for extra HDD space.

https://archive.org/details/civilization-0mhz

Cheers,

I have a graphical issue with this version were kind of red lines are running vertically every inch or so? Is that only me?

Also, can I make this version MT32 somehow? I looked for setup files but can't find anything.

Hi, I just found out, that this graphical issue is not just on Civilisation but on plenty of AO486 games... it is happening on Dune, Day of Tentacle a Epic Pinball e.g.

I tested against a second MiSter with an about 6 months old setup and all graphics are fine here. This Picture is from Dune.

Any idea what's causing this? (just the vertical lines, the horizonal ones seem to be a camera issue)

Update: Well I did some tests and this might be a core issue. I tried earlier versions of AO486 and everything is looking fine. Bad graphics only happen with the latest version of the core 240528. Could that be the cause?

Try temporarily disabling any video filters you have active and setting the refresh rate to 60Hz (versus variable). One or the other is likely the cause.

There are no filters. It's a CRT Monitor and I need variable refresh rate for accurate vga modes. But like I said, it's only happening with the latest release so the chance might be high that it is a core but I guess.

Ah, I missed that somehow - as someone indicated in the other thread, it doesn't happen on HDMI.

I don't see an issue with MiSTer v240505 and AO486 v240409

Using the Analog I/O Board's VGA out to a PC CRT on AO486 with this in the MiSTer.ini:

Code: Select all

[AO486]
forced_scandoubler=0
vga_scaler=1
video_mode=4
vscale_mode=5

After using filters, the pixels look correct with all resolutions/aspect-ratios and using the whole screen (no black bars).
(tested: 800x600, 720x400, 640x480, 640x400, 640x350, 360x400, 320x200)

Filters are:
Horz filter: from file > GS_Sharpness_060.txt
Vert filter: from file > SLA_Dk_100_Br_100.txt
Scan filter: Same as Vert
Gamma correction - On > gamma_115.txt
Shadow Mask - None

-

The issue must be with the AO486 v240528 core.

I ran into the same issue today and it's indeed a v240528 issue. The artifacts disappear either when downgrading to the version from April, or when using the latest nightly build.

I tested the 5 latest versions of AO486 and it only happens with the newest 240528.
This sounds suspicious.. :-)

Sorgelig might not have tested on a CRT, as they are not his focus.

The CRT VGA-Monitor is connected via an HDMI to VGA-Adapter, so I guess it "should" happen on an LCD also...

I have no idea how it works under the hood exactly, but the recent PLL changes were the first thing I thought of when seeing these artefacts as well.

ao486:

As I said above, the latest nightly has fixed the problem. There's exactly one additional commit over 20240528, but the comment doesn't actually say that much. Changes seem to be somewhat PLL related as far as I can tell though.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone here having this issue through HDMI who's NOT using an Ironclad Lite/Plus?

I don't have an ironclad and have this issue over HDMI to VGA. And I can confirm that the latest nightly is working fine again.

If I can put a request in, I'd love to see PGA Tour 486 included, it was in Flynns release, but as that project seems to be on hold, and this collection is "no messing about it just works", I thought I'd assk here.

I need my golf fix, yes I know we've Links, Leaderboard on the 64, Turf Master on the NEO, and Skins golf on the Snes. :)

I guess I'm not allowed to post a link, but if@emubastard wants to add them to the script, PM me and I'll send you it. I presume that's allowed mods?

Thanks!!

Okay then, there's this lad adding loads - https://archive.org/details/@bikerspade who just started but there's a fair few 0mhz

This bloke also has done loads - https://archive.org/details/@idelacio

But this lad is adding loads everyday, about 180 since mid April - https://archive.org/details/@william_miller353

Not sure if it’ll get added officially, but you can certainly create the pack yourself, upload it to archive and tag it as 0MHz. I posted a tool earlier in the thread that creates VHDs of the size you need. Then you just need to add your game files and set the configs you need :)

Indeed, that’s the recommended approach, as the project maintains configurations for a smaller set of games:

Thank you for this post. I found some images for games I bought back in the day.

I also found the Highlander game prototype that was for Jaguar CD only in a PC version. WOW - I always wanted to try that out but never found a CD while I had my Jaguar.

It is a very weird game - reminds me of Alone in the Dark. I will need a walkthrough as I keep getting beaten or shot to death.

Thank for the links and to those adding these games to VHDs.

Could someone convert Arthur's Teacher Trouble? I used to read that with my son nearly 25 years ago. It would be fun to show him.

Is the script updating and pulling everything from 0mHz?

I saw Big Red Racing was added but the update script didn't pull it down so I added it manually.

Did I break something by adding things manually?

I created a separate Z-game in the style of the 0MHz DOS collection. It turned out to be easy. Thanks for the information. ;)
