Atari 2600 paddles on C64 via DB9 / SNAC

Unread post by Brettster »

Is it possible to connect up the Atari 2600 paddles to the DB9 port on Antonio's case or via SNAC?
Would like to use them with Arkanoid on c64 or Arcade core or with the 2600 core
they do something in Arkanoid arcade core when a button is held down the bat moves in one direction but no analogue control.

From what I remember, the Atari & Commodore paddles were not 100% compatible. I found a reference saying that this was due to the C= paddles using 500K Ohm pots and the Atari ones using 1M Ohm pots. Possible this could be addressed in the core(s), maybe have separate settings if you're using real C= paddles or Atari ones.

I've always used the Atari paddles with my VIC-20, the range is not the same as with Commodore paddles, but it works fine in practice. A core setting for this would be great though.

It should work with DB9 to USB adapters that support paddles, mine sadly does not.
