Weird speed issue with Civilization

I found an odd bug/cache thing with this core
If I install Civilization and run it straight after boot the game will run very slow including the music. Then if I quit the game and enter it again it will run at normal speed.
It is almost like some RAM or cache is at play here. Anybody else noticed speed increase by reentering a game or program?
I run it just using Adlib on standard msdos 622 with no drivers installed.

Hi,
Just tried Civilization and had no trouble. Both sound and gameplay worked flawlessly.
Run it using VGA, Adlib and Mouse & Keyboard options.
Cheers,

Yes.
MS-DOS 6.22
HIMEM
QEMM
ctmouse
Soundblaster set for A220 I5 D1
Also loaded into memory:
Smartdrv
Doskey
SoftMPU (for my SC-88 Pro)
Happy to do some test if you'd like, but I would first try a different version of Civilization...

I had same issue today... after fresh core start, I started civ and it was really sluggish. Exited the game, and then started it again immediately and speed was ok.

It is some odd behavior and it seems to be the graphics creating the issue, as the world generation still runs quite fast.
I have now tried with the Exodos version, which is Version 474.03 and it runs perfectly every time, my own original (version 474.01) has this issue where I need to restart the game. I will try some more different versions and patches to maybe isolate what actually triggers this.
All my real hardware never had this issue even my 8088 card on the Amiga runs it better.
And thanks for the input NightShadowPT

My pleasure.
Glad you found an alternative.
Also, this information about different versions behaving differently may be very important for core developers to identify bugs in the Core...
