No mouse / keyboard in Workbench

After a full day of playing with my MiSTer, I'm as giddy as a child with a new toy. I suppose I am.
Only thing that confuses is me is that when I boot up into a workbench environment - the mouse and keyboard I attached via a USB hub don't work.
They work in other cores, and oddly, in games that don't use DOS - Populous 2 was one of the first I tried.
