I love running CRT monitors for my Mister but I have been asked to find out about alternatives using the 1920x1920 1:1 LCD panels that are out there now. These displays are 24"x24" or 16"x16" approx. and would fit well in many arcade cabinets, they would also allow for rotation of cores without rotating the display itself. Since there would be unused display area when displaying in 4:3 format on each side or on the top/bottom of these screens it seems like it would be a prefect place to put info cards and player instructions using the same type display overlays implemented in the Vectrex cores.

Gotta see the input lag of these monitors.

See Eizo EV2730Q-BK specification > input lag = 17ms :
https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/fd63575
It's a very interesting solution but these screens are very expensive and the DE10nano board will not output 1920x1920 signal. However, some people have had success with an image resolution of 1920x1440.
I would pay for a 1: 1 1440x1440 screen if the input lag is not too large.

17 ms is too big for a dedicated monitor.
But the idea is still good, I already checked that years ago, but that wasn't practical. Guess it still isn't. :-/
