Remap win-key for keyboards without it

Lots of older (mechanical) keyboards do not have a win-key.
But some cores (e.g. ao486 or Archie) need that win-key to open the Mister menu (win-F12).

So my question is: How can one remap the win-key without having a win-key?

The kbd*.map files seem to be binary, so no easy manual editing of those ...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Another idea could be a dedicated menu-key instead of F12 or win-F12 (maybe as an option in mister.ini).
Those old keyboards have some (unused) keys no modern keyboard has or needs ...

According to this thread, it looks like if you can plug in another keyboard with the key to map at the same time as the keyboard without it, you could map the key.

Wow, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, that actually and surprisingly works!
First you have to press the substitution key (on the keyboard without the win-key) and then the win-key on the other keyboard (then close the config menu with <enter> to save).
