I read on the internet about this somewhere, sadly can’t find post to link to it.

The post said (from memory) about using a non cec hdmi lead or adapter, I found one on Amazon for about £4 so I bought one.

The post said that it does something like stops pin 13 returning a 5v to the mister which increases stability, improves sdram stability, plus other things.

Anyone explain if any of this is right??

I may be looking through rose tinted glasses but I’m noticing differences, my had tv seems to settle on a screen mode quicker (it used to auto detect 3-4 times, now it only once) and it’s stopped the menu background occasionally crashing when I reset.

Am I seeing things not there? Or is there some sense to this?

I could be mistaken, but I think you're conflating two separate issues. CEC is on pin 13, while 5 V is on pin 18. The adaptor/cable you're using may or may not be cutting both connections, but all the adaptors/cables I've looked at on Amazon seem to just cut the CEC connection.

Like I said I can’t really remember the fine details of the post I saw but it does seem to make my experience better.

It's fine that you can't remember, but it's important to not have misinformation floating around, unchallenged. Other people will stumble across this thread eventually.

According to the user reviews, that adaptor doesn't disconnect the 5 V pin, so it may fix issue for some but not others. But because you have cut the CEC connection, your TV may now be blindly accepting whatever the DE10-nano feeds it without an elaborate handshake, hence the faster switching.

I was presenting some information I have found and said I wasn’t sure about it, thus asking for challenge so I don’t see how this is spreading misinformation.

Plus Amazon reviews aren’t always for the product your looking at, one review can feature on many products.

The OP has a solution to the 5V problem using an HDMI repeater.

Yes that’s the thread, thanks Harrumph, I couldn’t find that for looking lol, I was Googling something different lol

Some of the adaptors on amazon don't actually do what they are supposed to. Apparently some batches still have the pin connected .

I bought one of them and it still passed thru the cec, so I had to use a paperclip to actually push out the pin.
