What chip does the Benfei HDMI-to-VGA use?

I've just purchased this Benfei HDMI to VGA adapter and it's working fine but how can I tell if it's crushing blacks? (ie. hdmi_limited setting)

Here's a picture of the VGA shell but I can't see a way to open it with cutting/dremel?

You can tell by looking at it if you have black crushing surely?
