It was done for the GB. I think it connected with real hardware which was cool. I was hoping for the GBA also.
Would be awesome once implemented a seller make a bunch of them on their site.

The GBA core does currently not implement the serial modes (there are 5 different!), instead it is faked to generate a IRQ at the right time.
So that would be the first thing to do.
Then you need to build a cable and test with a real GBA or another DE10-Nano, if possible both.
I don't have any of these(only DS which doesn't have the ports) and i don't plan to get these things just for this feature, so I will not work on it, sorry.

Is this something you would consider working on if you were provided GBA hardware? I'm wondering if this has changed at all now that you've worked on the multiplayer gba core.

I don't really like the uncomfortable way of connecting two devices (2 MiSTer, 2 GBA, MiSter+GBA) to play these games, which was my main motivation to do it this way.
But well, the signals are there now. They can be routed to toplevel pins and connected to an external device by anyone who wants to tackle it.
