Atari ST Core - PPP Internet

After playing around with Atari ST core and PPP with STING and being able to connect to Internet (FTP at least) it would be interesting to see if it is possible to speed things up.
The PPP connection on the ST core is limited to 19200 BAUD as the Atari ST serial port has that limitation. The STING software do support to use MIDI ports as transportation which is faster that the serial port in Atari.
Has someone been tinkering around with getting the MiSTer PPP to work with Atari ST core over MIDI and get some more speed into their Internet connection to the ST Core?
