Starting on a new pack and need everyone to add their favorites to the Top 500 pack list so that we wont ever miss your favorite games. Now is the time to add something if you want it in there by default and indexed. Update the wiki here:
https://github.com/flynnsbit/Top300_upd ... p-500-List

When we hit 500 I'll review, test some, and build.

I've added:

The Even More! Incredible Machine (1993)
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (2002)

But I don't know if they would be compatible with the current ao486 core.

I can't sign up for github, the signup is not working for me so I can't add them.

Can we veto the remove list? Who is trying to dump The Incredible Machine and King's Quest 1 VGA? :p

Oh geez, I was somehow hoping for a more concise "definitive top-100" than even more games I have no hope of getting through.

I have a question... When you start a game and you have a bunch of options like EGA/VGA adlib/SB/MT32/CD like in monkey Island 1... How do you know which one to pick? It is just trial and error?

VGA is usually the best, EGA second best.

You should use soundblaster for sound and music, its most compatible with MiSTer. Most consumers used a sound blaster or adlib for music at the time, but if you want nicer music you can check threads in the linux forum on midilink if you want to use MT-32 with MUNT or General Midi/Sound Canvas with Fluidsynth, it takes some extra setup and MiSTer isn't really strong enough to drive MUNT and even occasional trouble with Fluidsynth. Or get an external real midi device or Raspberry Pi if you really want to go down the rabbit hole, MiSTer will let you send messages to it!

Yeah, I've already gone down the MT32-pi rabbit hole. It's nice down there! The sound is awesome. I just connected the pi directly to the MiSTer and was sold as soon as I heard the first few notes of the Monkey Island intro.

I took it apart though because I wanna use the IO board on my VGA.

Thanks for your info, I was mostly just asking about the sound modes and you gave me the answer... I'll just remember to select Soundblaster while I wait for my MT32-Pi hat to come in.

I'm soo sorry for being a noob, but I dont know how to edit the wiki. I made an account and all, but I'm just not getting it.

I'd really like to add Warlords 2 (by SSG) into that list. Can someone add it for me please?

The list stops at 500. I think we are in the low 400's so add away. The removal list is either games that I have spent a significant amount of time trying to get working and can't or they are hacks or games that are not really 486SX66 era. If you see one that works and that you play or want to keep (and or you go into the ao486 and show it works) we can add them back. I see someone added mario back and that is fine as I know it works, I just didn't think anyone played it on the DOS side. Good news is the community list idea is working.

You just need a github account, any github account, and then hit the edit button at the top of that wiki page.

My goal this time is every game in the list works or "mostly" works and could work better with a core change. Basically no "!" flagged items this time. Everything tested, everything runs before release.

I added a couple of games which I already tested with your Top300 pack, so here are some details to them which may save you some time in case you'll decide to include them in this new pack:

Disney's Aladdin - requires QEMM
Alien Breed - requires 16 MB RAM setting to pass piracy check
Alien Breed: Tower Assault - replace dos4gw.exe with dos32a.exe
Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders - original Heretic release get stuck on initial install screen, but SotSR works fine and includes original content
Lost Vikings - L2 cache needs to be disabled

Thas sounds a very good plan! Many thanks again for that!

I wanted to add Alien Trilogy, Conquest of the New World Deluxe Edition, Caesar III and Versailles 1685, I created a github account just for that purpose and they flagged and block my acount, great... If a nice soul can add them for me, I would appreciate it 😊

Oh and I would recommand anyone that don't have a CRT for this core (or the Mister in general) to use it with a OSSC and scart (I haven't try active hdmi to vga but it should work too). With horizontal+vertical scanline it looks 😍😍😍Just like I remember when playing on computer back in the 90s

If you guys want my exact scanline settings on a 4k screen, just ask, I'll share them :)

We have spots for about 40 more games in the list. I'll go back through the posts here if you can't add using github. If you can get github working, it would be better for everyone if you can just add to the list. It would be especially sad if I missed one of your games because it wasn't on github and I missed it here. I have a feeling I would get a thumbs down on one of my videos :D

eXoDOS 5.0 is out now btw. ;)

I threw in a few just now.

Added Wolf and Lion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwiQOegBa2A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opDch4j8Bt8

Very interesting survival games from the mid 90's that have a cult following. I deeply enjoyed Lion when I was younger, Wolf I never got to play though, but apparently people liked it too (harder game though from the looks of it).

Added Bio Menace too, very underrated classic platformer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV6S3UvJ-nM

Added OMF 2097:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15bvpznQP5M

Kind of way ahead of it's time (1994) for most fighters back then, think of it being Rise of the Robots, but playable and having good music.

Added God of Thunder:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzsw3TLQ_4w

Super fun game for its time.

Added Circuit's Edge:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_H0ay1siss

Early Westwood title, unique game in many regards.

Added Sango Fighter:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idMRlpImIxA

Early fighting game that played very well on PC, actually felt like a fighting game should :P

Added Brain Dead 13:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3dVe6hNcXk

Excellent Dragon's Lair type game that is super underrated and unknown, but excellent.

Added Lychnis:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2L_qBK-k4E

Monster World style platformer from a Korean developer. (Korean DOS games were pretty cool actually)

Added Ecstatica:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tis160twYc4

Very weird survival horror game that kinda is weirder and creepier today than it was then lol

I've added:

Alley Cat (1984)
Battle Chess (1988)
These are real classics, surprising that I didn't see them yet.

Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards (original: 1987; remake: 1991)
Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (in Several Wrong Places) (1988)
Leisure Suit Larry III: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals (1989)
Leisure Suit Larry 5: Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work (1991)
Leisure Suit Larry 6: Shape Up or Slip Out! (1993, CD version in 1994)
Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail! (1996)
Why were these missing?

Pinball Fantasies (1992)
Pinball Illusions (1995)
Slam Tilt (1996)
Some of the best pinball games at the time.

Police Quest II: The Vengeance (1988)
The one missing from the list, the only one I've played IIRC.

Sid & Al's Incredible Toons (1994)
This is like the Incredible Machine, but much funnier and with great cartoon animations.

Hmmm....shouldn't we rather vote on these additions? I mean anyone can add dozens of games and for some they might literarily be the only one who'd want them. That game then potentially takes the spot of another game that dozens of players want.

How do you propose we vote on a 500 item list effectively? Honestly asking since I'm sure I'll use the method at a later date.

One possibility:
First collect candidates, possibly via a shared Google Sheet
Second host a poll on the Mister discord. I have seen polls done on other discords. It goes without saying that they'd need to be open to that.
