Main Menu button mapping for Alt-F12

I've got a Mister stack from misteraddons setup inside a bartop right now. I only have 5 buttons I call Start, Select, A, B, and C. When I do the input assignments from the main menu it allows me to define a 2 button combo for the OSD.

What I would like and from researching doesn't seem like a feature yet is the ability to map a 2 button combo to Alt-F12 so I can press Start+Select to do quick core swaps. I know I can switch cores from the OSD but its too many steps for anyone else using the system.

Any reason this isn't a good idea? I'm pretty confident I could figure out how to change the code myself.

If you want simplicity, the best is to reset to the menu core.

You can use discrete components (transistors or IC) to make a two/three button combo that triggers the MiSTer physical reset button. Basically one or two AND gates wired to said button.

For example: Start+Select+A triggers a reset. Then for OSD you can map a different combo such as Down and Start.

Edit: switching between cores sometimes result in video corruption, and you have to reset to fix it. So using a physical reset anyway is better if you want something that doesn't need you to be around.
