Hi all,

New the Mister scene but have been messing with emulation since the early days of MAME, Callus and the like. I'll be primarily using Mister on my candy cabs in future but at the mo want to try some of the cores on my LG CX OLED set. Am I correct in thinking that all cores except Neo-Geo and GBA can use 6x scale at 1440p? Having messed about with resolutions and refresh rates on GroovyMAME and the like would I just need to edit these values like this on the Mister?:

video_mode_ntsc=1920,8,20,20,1440,2,4,3,170000 ; 1920×1440 @60hz
video_mode_pal=1920,8,20,20,1440,2,4,3,141667 ; 1920×1440 @50hz

Or is there anything else I would need to edit?

Atrac17 has a CX TV and he has up to 6x settings for most cores on his patron account, they are unlocked for everyone

Hey buddy so I've added his lines to the ini and I've set my menus at 2048 x 1536 which work perfectly as menus. However anytime I boot up any core it defaults back to 1920x1080 after loading in the core. I use the green button on the LG CX to tell me the res is outputting and it is definitely switching back from the correct menu resolution to 1080p in any supported core, oddly. Have you had this issue? As it seems no matter what modeline I change it just defaults to 1080p. I'm using integer scaling but have tried the full height one and also have the issue...?

I've been an idiot and realised I didn't add the NTSC and PAL lines...working perfectly now.

The new vscale modes effectively achieve the same thing. Meaning that a core is rendered at 6x to eg 1344 lines of vertical resolution. Your LG tv will upscale from there. You currently lose out on setting a custom aspect ratio that way though. Yet again, manually sourcing and setting all the mode lines is much more time consuming.

I find that just setting the mister to 1440p is good enough.
