Stupid question:
What is the "Release keys on reset" option for?

Today is the day of stupid questions:
C64:
- Joystick simulates SPACE and CTRL on Fire2/3 if not connected to POT.
What is POT?

There are no stupid questions
Potentiometer. The C64 joystick port has four digital direction lines, 1 digital fire button line, and two potentiometer lines which could be used by paddles, or the 1351 mouse. It's possible to use those lines as extra fire button pins.

Thanks. So this is only when using a real C64 joystick and why I did not think of POTentiometer.
Sorry to hijack tonton thread.

Not necessarily - I've not used it, so I'm not sure - but I think what it means is that buttons 2 and 3 on a gamepad can be mapped so that the 64 core sees them either on the POT-X/Y pins, or on the Space / Ctrl keys.

I used to set up game pads (usually Master System or Genesis since they’re mainly pin compatible) to do things like this on the C64 and Amiga. I could rewire an unused button to be “Up” in addition to the D-Pad “Up” so that a button would be jump in most games. Then another as “Space Bar” via port 1, because many games use “Space” for extra button functions. That way I could play without reaching for the keyboard, or having to jump using the D-Pad. Very handy for action/platform games. Turrican worked wonderfully this way for example.

Hi tontonkaloun,
This is part of the update from the 04th of May
The option to release keys upon reset is to prevent automatic enter to debugger in some ROMs like Dolphin.

Thank you Kathleen !!
Alexey Melnikov :
If you disable it, and will use ctrl-alt-alt for reset in dolphin dos then you will enter the debugger instead of restart

Alexey Melnikov :
Pots are paddle inputs on sid, used in some games as additional buttons
