Windows 3.1 - Terminal / Modem Not working

Here I am again with more connection issues.

Have installed MSDOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 from usual places. Everything generally working well. Got the memory exclusions sorted out so misterfs works etc.

Everything works fine in DOS mode.

When trying to use the terminal or QModem Pro for Windows I can not dial out to connect to anything. I have the baud set to 115200 and everything else as setup for DOS.

Nothing I do lets me dial out from Windows 3.1. I have the number 001 mapped to the address for the BBS I want to access and it works fine, good grief it even works from the Commodore 64!

Do I need to install something extra for Win 3.1 to make things work?

I seem to remember having the same issue with Qmodem Pro. Win 3.11 does work fine at 115200 with Trumpet Winsock, so I also was a little perplexed.

Anyway, I believe it works at 57600...

This is possibly just a bug in Qmodem Pro that never was discovered. I don't think many people had 115200 BPS modems :)

Really, nobody used 115200 until ISDN came around, and that speed really was not even reliable until the newer 16550A UART came out which provided a FIFO.

Bit more success :) Though now I seem to have lost my 115200 option from the Mister OSD menu!

Now I'm getting a tcpsock_client_connect issue :( Presuming I have to do something with Trumpet Winsock? Will try tomorrow!

Edit: that was because I forgot I had deleted my midilink.dir. working now. Thanks

EditEdit: Yep QModem works fine at the slower speed. Procomm worked at the higher speed, but I really dislike the interface. Windows 3.1 with a PDF printer installed is actually a pretty good distraction free work setup. Getting distracted by anything is just too much effort ...

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, me too... I'll look into that
