Final Fight CD

Unread post by retro »

Has anyone tested Final Fight CD with the MegaCD core?

I tried both the no-intro version, as well as the recolored hack by Pyron, and unfortunately it never loads.

When I select the game in the MegaCD core, it always loads the Sega CD's CD player.

I checked and confirmed the BIN filename is correct in the CUE file.

Unfortunately I am unable to check in real hardware, as my Mega Everdrive Pro is at least two months away.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My CHD image (which was converted from a bin/cue) works.

Just to rule out a common error: did you transfer it to the mister by using FileZilla?

shot in the dark here, linux is case sensitve.. open the CUE file and ensure the name of the file matches the name of the bin exactly, case matters.
Windows doesnt care

If the files are Final_Fight_CD.BIN and Final_Fight_CD.CUE
and inside the cue it reads.. final_fight_cd.bin it may fail.. I have seen this before on Raspberrypi which is linux.

Yes, I have been using FileZilla for all my FTP needs. This is the only game to not work though.

Will take note of this and try again. Thank you, was not aware this was an issue.

I edited the filenames and the CUE file to ensure both BIN and CUE files are lower case, and it still doesn't load. It just goes straight to the Sega CD's CD player :(

The game works fine for me, even the J Darkwater hack works fine. Maybe you have a bad dump or something but the game plays fine

Do you mind sharing the link where you get the working game? Thanks!

Alas it still doesn't work.
I tested it with the KEGA Fusion emulator on my PC, and I am getting the same results as well. :(

Well, I feel stupid...
It was a BIOS issue all along.
I replaced the JP Mega CD 1 BIOS with the JP Mega CD 2 BIOS, and it is able to load :)

Glad it's been resolved. Yeah, anytime your having trouble getting these roms working simply delete the core and/or your bios from the problem cores directory and run update all.

I just pulled the Mega CD 2 BIOS from the BIOS directory.... did not bother to run Update All at all.

So far this is the only Japanese Sega CD title to have this problem, the rest all load with the Mega CD 1 BIOS without issue.

It's not a problem with the MegaCD core though, as I had the exact same behavior in the KEGA Fusion emulator.
