Help setting up cheats for TG16CD/PCE CD

I have no issue with cheats for TG16/PCE HuCards (or other cores for that matter), but can't get cheats working for TG16/PCE CD.

My cheat files are downloaded through update.sh/gamehacking.org. I've tried match up file names of the cheat file for a game with both bin/cue or CHD formats

Example:
cheat file: Cosmic Fantasy II (CD)(USA).zip
CHD: Cosmic Fantasy II (CD)(USA).chd
BIN/CUE: Cosmic Fantasy II (CD)(USA).cue

But regardless of what I try the Cheats menu is grayed out once I load the disc image.

Any suggestions on what I could try?

I just loaded a PCE CD and logged what it tried. It tried to load this:

/media/fat/cheats/TGFX16CD/1552 Tenka Tairan (Japan) [].zip

For some reason it adds a [] to the file name, I'm not sure why

it makes no difference what the cheat file is called as long as its a zip file and its in the same folder as the cd image
just tried it here and its still working for me

Thanks! After placing the cht zip files in the folder with the CHDs they started working.

I assumed they could stay in the media/fat/cheats folder because they worked fine with other cores that way.
