Does the PC Engine not have high score saving?
I only play Pacland but the high score doesn't save.

The core supports saving of data that the original games supported.
Many HuCards - especially the early releases - did NOT support saves, because the backup memory was neither part of the card itself, nor part of the basic unit (one would need either a specific backup memory add-on, or a CD-ROM unit which had it internally).
Just 69 of 396 HuCards had this support.
