CPS2 PuzzLoop2 Spinner Support

Would it be possible to add spinner support to the PuzzLoop2 game for the CPS2 core? The game has support for it (service menu -> Configuration -> System -> Operation -> Paddle) but I cannot seem to map anything but a joystick to the core.
