Atari 7800 With Ultimate Spinner Help?

Unread post by JudgeDrokk »

Hi - I have found two homebrew games that use PADDLE on ATARI 7800.

Crazy Brix and Super Circus both in the Trebors set. They are marked as Paddle in the filename.

In both RISHAs Atari 7800 core and the core that is installed via UpdateALL (which has paddle options in the Core menu) I am
unable to get the spinner to respond. Am I missing something obvious?
Ive tried swap joystick.
Is there a newer version of the RISHA core I as supposed to use?
I have Atari 7800 03-11-21

I am able to play other COREs fine with Ultimate Spinner...such as Arkanoid arcade, Pong, AY-3-8500 pong, NES Arkanoid, NEO GEO (Pop and Bounce).

It there a simple way to use the Spinner - maybe I am missing something obvious?

Thanks.

The core still needs development on the inputs side (rotary controls included). We had a discussion the other day whether it supports SNAC; well, it doesn't yet, and that should be on the 'to do' list along with the 2600 core.

So, you're not missing anything :)

Thanks for the info - I was a bit puzzled for sure. Cheers! 8-)

There's only one game that uses the spinner, super circus atari, and it does work with spinners currently. The ultimate spinner needs a firmware update to make it work properly with mister.

Hi - Appologies for the type in name... sorry Rysha!

Yeah, I have the Ultimate Spinner from Ricardo - its only 2 weeks old and Ricardo said it shipped with the latest new FW. (as seen on his Ultimate MiSTer site)

All other COREs work with the spinner... Arcade - PONG, Arkanoid. NES Arkanoid, NEOGEO Pop and Bounce & Hypernoid .

The 7800 version I have is Atari 7800 03-11-21 (Rysha)

So Super Circus should work with this?

I have a homebrew game also called Crazy Brix that is labled as "spinner" but neither work for me with the Ultimate Spinner. ..
Everything else I have tried is fine.

From Ricardo's site... (All these apart from 7800 are working fine.....)

Arkanoid: Works even better than before; spinner resolution settings have an effect and the game is much more enjoyable
Breakout: Now works with options Spinner and Paddle
Pong: Works when controls set to “Paddle”
NeoGeo: Pop’n’Bounce support works with correct dip switch paddle settings and arcade mode

Console Cores:

NES: “Arkanoid” and “Flying Hero” now work with option “Vaus”
AY-3-8500 (Pong): now works with controls set to “Paddle” and can be inverted if needed
Atari 2600: Breakout / Breakaway works out of the box
Atari 7800 (by Rysha): works out of the box
