Intermittent Video Problem

Sometimes when I first boot up a game in the SNES core I get any number of video issues that either work themselves out over time or are solved by multiple reboots. This happens even when first powering up and going straight into the SNES Core.

I've seen a bunch of white vertical lines
A black screen with the game audio playing (the MiSTer osd and menu shows up fine)
Scaler artifacts - weird lines around the pixels (when this happens it persists even when loading other games)

I'm running default core settings, interpolation (sharp), vscale_mode=3, vsync_adjust=2.

When I get it running right it plays fine for hours (even swapping games).

Any and all help is appreciated.

This is not SNES core specific.

How long is your HDMI cable?
Do you use HDMI slitter?
How does your TV behave with vsync_adjust=0?

Sometime the HDMI buffer acts up, the solution as you said is hard reset (button on IO board).

Using a 6' cord into an A/V reciever. Haven't noticed it with other cores but have been spending most of the time with the snes core so it wouldn't surprise me if the others did it too. Just found it weird that it happened from the get go (plugging it in) and never seemed to effect the menu.

Completely cool with this just being a quirk of the MiSTer and not a hardware problem. Is the cold reset the same as a hard reset? I don't have the IO board.

The HDM buffer doesn't affect the menu.
It's a known issue.

What is you fb_size= setting?
Do you have a background?

fb_size is set to 0, and I'm just using the default snow background.
