Is it possible to use mt32pi over the network?

I'm easily able to use mt32-pi from my PC to the Pi. I can also setup my AO486 to use Munt32 on my PC. However, when trying to use mt32-pi over the network with AO486 it doesnt work. Is it because mt32pi needs rtpmidi and MiSTer uses midilink instead?

In case anyone else is wondering, I recieved a response from the developer of mt32-pi and he confirmed my thoughts on why it doesn't work.
