Hi,
I put my monitor on 1440p and use these video modes:
Vscale=0
video_mode=1920,32,32,50,1440,4,5,26,180000 ;1920×1440 @60
video_mode_ntsc=1920,32,32,50,1440,4,5,26,180000
video_mode_pal=1920,32,32,50,1440,4,5,26,150000
Everything looks great, but the video settings display a greyed out option ‘Vertical crop: 216p(5x). Is this correct because 1440p mean automatically that 5X is used? Just to be sure.

1440p is actually 6x for 240p sources!
The vertical crop feature depends upon core, but most? of them are coded to only work at 1920x1080 resolution and with vscale_mode=0.

Thanks! You are right, it is 6x. To make the right choice for for instance the Genesis core. Should it be 1440p or 1080 5x? What is the best choice to make? Thanks for the help.

If you have a 1440p native resolution monitor I'd say 1440p is by far better than dealing with monitor scaling weirdness. Even if you want to fill the screen you can just use vscale_mode=0 (although scanlines might not look the best...)
If you have a 4k monitor then its a little less obvious. It may or may not scale 1080p a little more evenly, and you might want to avoid non-integer scaling more with your monitor already doing that, which would lean towards 1080p cut if you want to fill up more of your vertical space.
One caveat to 1920x1440 is that it's basically a 4:3 resolution. If you want a wide aspect ratio core like gameboy advance or something to fill your screen you might need to drop to 1200p or 1080p.
