Hi!
Im thinking of building a bartop arcade.
I have an old 1920x1200 display(Eizo s2243w) which I plan on connecting via a active hdmi->DP adapter(can handle 1920x1200 up to @120hz.)
I’m really bad at displays generally, I normally have my mister connected to my 4k TV.
Is my 19:10 1920x1200 monitor a bad/ok/good option you think?
Or will the mister be able to scale all console cores to it without too much black borders?
I guess it should result in less black borders than on my 16:9 4k TV since 16:10 is closer to 4:3.
I’d be grateful for all tips and insights I can get before starting to build

Re: 16:10 screen
1200p is a nice 5x scale for almost anything. So its like 5x crop except no cropping needed. It's a much nicer size that 1080p and cuts down the black bars on the sides a little.
Re: 16:10 screen
Thanks!
Then I’ll stick with my 16:10!
I saw some different examples of modlines here on the forum. Do I need to generate my own based on the specific displays specs. or are they “generic”?
Also last question any special settings that’s needed aside from above or incompatibilities with certain cores given the not so common resolution?

Re: 16:10 screen
The Mister unfortunately still lacks a built-in 1200p mode, so yes you need to supply your own. Still a generic one should work fine for most displays. Worse case is it doesn't sync and you just tweak it until it does. Any real incompatibilities would come down more to refresh rate and that's not a problem specific to the resolution, at least for your monitor rated for 120hz.

Re: 16:10 screen
I also use a 16:10 Screen (NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi) with the following ini settings - works perfectly on ALL Cores imho:
= 1920 x 1200 x 60hz
video_mode=1920,48,32,80,1200,3,6,26,154128
video_mode_ntsc=1920,48,32,80,1200,3,6,26,154128
video_mode_pal=1920,48,32,80,1200,3,6,26,128440
---> This must be vscale_mode=0 !
try this ;D
EDIT: OH OH I just realized by playing around with the core´s that i missed something to see.
> The only Core´s that fit´s my screen correct with 1920x1200 are the ao468, NeoGeo, some Arcade and some Amiga games....i checked again the other Console´s (Genesis, Snes, Nes, PC Engine, X68000 etc.) and they all fit the screen BUT there is sadly much lines not visible / out of screen (cut off),
i can only see the whole picture of these Core´s when i turn my resolution back to 1920x1080 and then make the Crop 5x setting - BUT here is the downside that the screen is much smaller on my Panal and not nicely filled like the neogeo
WHAT i´m doing wrong? I thougt 1200 is a nice choice far nearly all cores???
OR do i need a special resolution setting in the ini for each Core seperatly (is this possible?).
I hope some one can help me out here

UPDTATE = problem solved......
Now ALL Cores run like they should on my Panel. The Problem was NOT the custom Mister ini settings or whatever, i just used the wrong DVI input on my NEC Monitor (it seems that there´s only one of the two DVI inputs compatible with 1200p! - the one i used before did not accept properly the Mister settings from 1920x1200 insted it scaled all back to 1080p what the picture cut off´s caused) - hope that help´s maybe other people who run in similar problems ;D
Greetings
