What about a 1:1 display, such as Eizo ev2730q-bk?

Hi all,

been following Mister right from its beginning, but still pondering the ultimate setup, I should get me. I currently have a BVM20F1E in good condition. As you probably know hat's quite a beast in many ways :) I'm really struggling with the space here and maintaining the CRT's is a real pain in the long run.

I've been following the discussion around the LCDs for quite a while and then I stumbled across the 1:1 display from Eizo.

https://www.eizo.fi/flexscan/ev2730q-bk/

It's expensive (and big), yes, but would it make sense to have such a thing if/when I love both horizontal Arcade stuff and vertical too. There would be black bars on the sides or above and below the picture then, depending on the orientation. I know I still need to rotate the display to avoid extra latency due to transforming the image "on the fly"? Or that's what I've gathered so far.

Any thoughts?

1920x1440 is pretty close to the resolution limit on Mister. Obviously you can't output 1920x1920 with the current scaler chip. 1920x1440 is of course sufficient for 4:3 horizontal games, maybe you can output 1440x1920 for the vertical but you'd need to add that line to each individual vertical arcade core.

Aa, ok. Thanks for the info, did not think of the actual limitations of the scaler at all  Hmm, to be on the safe side, I guess something with a bit smaller resolution would work better. It seems there are a few 4:3 displays that you can buy new, e.g.:

That would be pretty good option, although it only has 6m response time, which kinda makes me wonder a bit.

I own an Eizo s2133 - which is great for 4:3 content. The downside of it is that it doesn't seem to work with 50hz stuff.

Is there any 4:3 lcd, that would be 50Hz tolerant and also available as new? I'd say there isn't :/
