CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Hi,
Someone have news about the portage of "Cave 68000" board on Mister (DoDonpachi) ?
no news from the dev since one year
It would seem that this portage was made for a project of end of study but no news for the mister.

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for Mister
This is great news.
One thing that's odd about this is that it's commonly just called Cave 68000 hardware, but the list of companies that share the MAME driver is sort of baffling. It runs the gamut from virtually unknown companies to much bigger names like Namco, Jaleco, and Atlus. Particularly odd is the fact that Cave-developed games were apparently produced by three different companies (Atlus, Jaleco, and Nihon System) on "this" hardware, but all with significantly different boards. I wonder if some other company (Seta? NMK?) is the source of the graphics chipset.

As far as I know the hardware was developed by cave and then licensed to other companies.ExCyber wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 6:29 pm This is great news.

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for Mister
I think with this announcement (and when it arrives) the MiSTer user base will probably go up 1,000%...
Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for Mister
I doubt it. CAVE and shmup genre is very niche with very passionate and deep pocketed members like yourself, but you are still in the minority of the retro gaming sceneXtraSmiley wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 11:35 am I think with this announcement (and when it arrives) the MiSTer user base will probably go up 1,000%...

Deep pocketed! Ha! No pocketed because I don't waste money on "clothes" or "looking normal". ALL my money on RETRO GOODNESS!!!!suverman wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 12:15 pmI doubt it. That being said, my post is a bit tongue in cheek too, I don't think the MiSTer user base is super large right now.
Your estimation of shooter fans may be off, M2 has had to order multiple printings of their Shot Triggers game series, that means they are selling pretty well so far!

You are right but don't think that makes you the only naked guy in a bare room with only a MiSTer.XtraSmiley wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 2:21 pmNo pocketed because I don't waste money on "clothes" or "looking normal". ALL my money on RETRO GOODNESS!!!!

This announcement was what prompted me in to looking at the MiSTer, someone posted it on the r/shmups subreddit and when I saw most of the computers and consoles I had as a kid were implemented along with ones I could have only dreamed of owning I had to get oneFarquaad wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:49 pm I have my answer posted today

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for Mister
A beta version was released for patreon backups in august - with no sound. Meanwhile, another Patreon post showed ingame music perfectly (?) rendered. So a new beta with the sound should appear soon !

I hope so too dude. I just got the actual PCB and it's pretty great, just not worth the cost of the game. I hope it comes along soon and more people can check it out!

Not yet. This is a big milestone though.

It absolutely is and I can't wait to shove my MiSTer into my cab and give this core a shove! <3retrorepair wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 3:04 pmNot yet. This is a big milestone though.

(I'm secretly hoping though, someone's got already his paws on Toaplan v2 hardware)

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Yeah me too, tbh. Although I do personally rate armed police Batrider above that (I know, burn the heretic ).
I wonder if the Raizing boards need anything more/different to be programmed inside a Toaplan v2 core, compared to the "native" (and older) Toaplan's own games.
[Edit] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Edu8-D1jAY I'm pasting that here for my redemption (Battle Garegga has one of the greatest soundtracks in the history of video games)
We're probably a long way off of the realization of this dream yet...
