Don't know could be your bluetooth dongle also. If you own one of these try repairing to it:
https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/
https://www.8bitdo.com/usb-adapter-ps1-classic/
https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter/
Also try the mister script bluetooth clear all pairings and re-pair.
Known issue: if you hard reboot or power restart mister, the controller needs to be turned off and then on again. Otherwise it won't work (does not reconnect a 2nd time).

i have the
https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/
and it dosent work after paring it to the mister.
i also use a Bluetooth adaptor for the mister have used 2 different usb Bluetooth adaptors and the wireless-usb-adapter-2.
the wireless-usb-adapter-2 has the V1,01 beta 1 firmware.
i also used it on my pcs and its usb Bluetooth adaptors and it works and i used the wireless-usb-adapter-2 on the pc and it works.
also tested to change to different firmware 6.00 dosent work either.
i also tested these controllers and they work on the mister.

8bitdo sn30 pro (new one)

I'm using a
https://www.8bitdo.com/N30-NS/ with
https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/
Firmware: 6.14.
I have no problems, other than having to turn controller off/on anytime hard rebooting or power cycling the MiSTer.
I'm not going to update it to 6.16 in case there's an issue with that
.
Too bad this one controller does not work with USB cable so you can't test it wired. Most or all other 8BitDo BT controllers do work with USB cable, but not this one.
Make sure your mister is updated to the latest. No other ideas.

Just FYI, I'm having the same issue, and I'm currently using the
MisterAddons WiFi and Bluetooth combo dongle.

Try pairing in each of the 4 possible modes -
https://manuals.plus/8bitdo/8bitdo-sn30 ... ser-manual
For me one controller only worked properly in Android mode (START + B to turn on controller).
Turn off the controller (hold START), then turn on in one of the modes, go through BT pairing process, and map controller buttons in the main MiSTer menu. Repeat for other modes if START + B mode doesn't work until you find one that works. I haven't used the "WiFi + Bluetooth" adapter yet so don't know if there's something different about that one.

Yeah I didn't check that one, assumed it had the same pair modes.
Forgot that for this N30 controller, BT *only* works (for me at least) with one of 8BitDo's own BT receivers (USB orig (grey or orange), or the new USB v2 (black). No idea why, but "the nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them".
