Mystic Marathon Arcade Core Released
Hot on the heels of the Joust 2 arcade core, birdybro and JasonA have ported another of darfpga's cores to MiSTer, this time it is Mystic Marathon an early sports style game where you are a Benkin racing other Benkins across a difficult obstacle course.

Re: Mystic Marathon Arcade Core Released
I've contacted theypsilon, neither appears to be in the Distribution_MiSTer repo, sorry about that. I think I did everything correct on my end, but it might be a newbie mistake.

Re: Mystic Marathon Arcade Core Released
Thanks. Someone said he got it via the downloader, looking on Github I see the initial release was 2 days ago, an update to the core was made 21h ago but there is only 1 rbf in the release folder, there should be 2. This may have confused the downloader.

The github repo links need to be updated, I had misnamed them, my bad. It should be fixed now.

Re: Mystic Marathon Arcade Core Released
Thanks, it is not a big deal for me as I can download it manually. The reason I made the post is for the following reasons:
When the downloader was first announced I was one of the first to use it and was horrified by all the stuff downloaded which was not the case with the old updater and not indicated anywhere. So I stopped using it and decided to wait and see. There as been updates to the downloader and the old updater has become aggressively nasty: when running update all it first asks you a gazillion times if you really want to use the old updater, a lot of the customization has disappeared from update all when using the old updater and to finish when the update all start it first starts an un-killable timer of 20s (really nice). I don't like sticks, I prefer carrots. Anyway, I decided to re-test the new downloader, but not on my main setup which I did not want to screw up. I used a new SD card and USB drive and started to collect incriminating evidence against this malfeasant downloader . I already found a few things which I posted on the forum but so far no feedback. I guess I will have to file a complain on Github.
That said, the new downloader is much faster, does more checks using hashes, may be more customizable but complicated to use and lacking documentation.
Time will tell, for now I still did not finish to transfer all my roms to the new USB drive and have a lot more testing to do. I can always revert to the old updater, I have 9 months left and may be in 9 months we will have a healthy baby.

Hi aberu, thanks for your effort porting this core!aberu wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 6:41 pm The github repo links need to be updated, I had misnamed them, my bad. It should be fixed now.

Quick heads-up, I've noticed that the version in _alternatives references an RBF file called mysticm instead of MysticMarathon, and that version doesn't load.
Converters I've written: Floppy DIM/FDI/FDD/HDM to D88, D88 to XDF, Tape SVI 318/328 CAS to WAV

I submitted a pull request to fix this and I updated the alternative on the repo for the core --> https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Arcade- ... otype).mra
