Resurection of the "PiTop MiSTer" Laptop

Inspired (retrospectively, I actually bought the PiTop for another project) by https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_Mi ... /Pi-Top-v1 I am working on a MiSTerFPGA laptop

Unlike the original, trying to avoid too many custom boards, just easy to get off the shelf components:
1. 'FPV' flat cables
2. de-cased Monoprice HDMI rate convertor/audio extractor
3. generic memory modules

Project is here on twitter : https://twitter.com/strangedevices1

Issues as at today:
1. RAM - my crude right angle RAM adaptor is causing performance issues with some modules
2. Power- the combination of the MiSTer and Panel/audio electronics is requiring some careful wiring
3. Heat - fans are noisy, but may be unavoidable
4. wiring management - using a lot of "FPV" flat cables, USB hub is a very tight squeeze
4. MiSTer updates messing things up - the usual !

The good:
1. I got the PiTop V1 fairly cheap
2. its display is nice
3. keyboard is fine for this use case
4. battery and power are chonky

Love green ;) looking so nice!

You say performance issues with your memory, what issues?

No mister core need 140mhz or 160mhz memory speed, memory clock speeds change for each core used and the range is from 126mhz to 43mhz.

Also where are the noisy fans on this build?
