I made a MT32-pi using my pi 3 B v1.2 and looking at the data connectors made a db9 connector to the gpio pins on the pi. I get the mt32 option menu but only was able to hear some crackling on Loom for a sec. I then took the 5v power off the io board and just used usb power on the pi. Now I can't get any sound. I was thinking of getting a hat, but all of those want the usb not the db9.
I connected all the pins besides the one one going to pin 2. I used the chart from the github and added the db9 pin numbers that matched them to the USB info.

For the DB9 to 2x20 GPIO I have published this conversion board:

Eagle and gerber files are available.
Also I sell on my store one mt32pi DB9 addon with cable included:

I had it hooked up correctly, I got it to work. It appears the internal db9 connector is the issue it I wiggle it the sound works. It might have came loose in the shipping.
