Hi, new to Mister, just getting things set up. It's just the main board, completely updated, over HDMI to my Pioneer PDP-4270HD Plasma TV
I noticed the content on the left side and bottom of the screen are cut off, so I investigated the INI and noticed that I'm running with Option 0, 1280x720@60. I think I'm witnessing "overscan" where the signal is accepted but only the native resolution is shown, leaving the rest cut off. (I don't see a way to disable it on my TV)
I consulted the TV manual. It says the TV has 1024x768, which is odd because that's a 4:3 aspect ratio and this is clearly a 16:9 TV. (The more expensive 50 and 60 inch models are 1365x768 which seems more reasonable)
Confused, I selected option 1, 1024x768@60 and that lead to no signal when I rebooted. I went back to the TV manual and checked to see what other resolutions I would select. Here's what it said:
Input signal correlation table
1920x1080i@59.94/60Hz
720x480p@59.94/60Hz
1280x720p@59.94/60Hz
720(1440)x480i@59.94/60Hz
1920x1080p@24Hz
I don't know how to select an interlaced resolution so i skipped those. The 720x480 works but everything is huge and it looks like its also being improperly rendered, with a lot of cut content off the side of the screen (Overscan?)
I noticed I could specify a custom resolution instead of the presets so I tried 1920x1080p@24Hz and that worked, the TV even recognized a 1080p signal, problem is that the screen is flickering. I added CVT and CVTRB but those didn't help.
So now I'm completely confused. I think the best option would be native resolution, but I'm not sure why its not displaying. Does anyone have any advice?
720p Plasma Over HDMI is either Overscanning or Not Displaying
Re: 720p Plasma Over HDMI is either Overscanning or Not Displaying
I have this tv. It does indeed have rectangular pixels. It has a cracking scaler though so you can’t notice it.
I had overscan too when I tried my MIster on it but I think I only tried the x86 core.
I get overscan using my pc over hdmi too actually, but it’s fine through vga. Maybe try analog?

Thanks. I don't have the IO board, so I ordered an HDMI to VGA adapter from Amazon. We'll see. The manual does that that the TV is capable of doing dot-for-dot in PC Mode, which I assume is via VGA. I'll report back.

That worked! Thank you Lloyd.
I got a HDMI to VGA adapter and plugged it in and now it's rendering perfectly.
