Elite on NES

Good afternoon, I have had my D10 for a little while, and the one game I would love to get working is Elite.
It was available on many platforms but I cannot get any to work.
The closest I can get it the NES - where I see it load and then a grey screen. Now I think I know this is down to headers, and I was told to download python 3 and sunshine scrips, but this is a little over my head and I don't know what to do with them.
Has anyone got elite running? - if so how did they manage it!
Thanks in advance
John

I'm pretty sure I had this running no problem. Just make sure you're using a known-good iNES 2.0 headered ROM and the system is running as PAL. This game has some wild code that insists being run at PAL refreshes to draw the screen correctly.
No idea which Python scripts you've been referred to?
As for other systems; I've had no problems running the 8-bit micro versions. They can be a bit more fiddly to set up but if you look on a certain Archive found on the Internet and check out some YouTube videos I'm sure you can set things up too.

Yes this is my question but I can't see how to change a header and the links are unclear for a novice. = Sorry

And is there anywhere with Elite with the 2.0 header?
Thanks

ROM's can't be linked for obvious reasons, if you're having trouble converting your games to NES2.0 you could use
my utility which does require the nes2.0 database file, but can be downloaded from the link in the readme file.

And did you set system type to PAL in the core menu?

Never owned or played with a NES but I booted the NES core, loaded the NES Elite image as released by the authors from
here, set the video to PAL and it worked.
No need to change any headers.

Elite is notorious for being the most temperamental of the PAL-only games on the system. I tested it extremely extensively during the addition of the PAL support, and I am absolutely certain that it is working as intended. Most likely your rom is corrupt or it's header is invalid, so perhaps try getting a different copy of it elsewhere if running the header repair script mentioned by the other posters doesn't work for you.
