MIDI Keyboard Input in Impulse Tracker

Unread post by ferropop »

Trying to use a MIDI USB Keyboard on the AO486 core but running into difficulties.

I've set up everything in the UART menus, as the minimig core successfully responds to MIDI notes.

If I force MPU401 as the Impulse Tracker sound device, I do get notes from the keyboard - but of course there is no sound.

Maybe I'm missing something fundamental here, but any thoughts? I was hoping to just plug it in and get MIDI Input like in minimig.

Thank you !!

Can anyone spot what I might be doing wrong?

Just want to use a little MIDI Keyboard (connected through USB) in ao486 to input MIDI data.

My understanding is that this should map to MPU-401 for MIDI input.

I know my setup works in general, as I do exactly this in minimig.

Any thoughts?

This would be nice to have... also if we could use a USB controller as MIDI input as well (such as the AKAI MPK mini)

That's exactly what I'm trying to use. It works great in minimig!

Weirdly if I set Impulse Tracker to exclusively use MPU401 as the Sound Card itself, MIDI input works! But there's no audio...
