Can't Connect BT Device

Unread post by retroplace »

Hi there,

I am struggling to pair any BT controller with MiSTer. I press the OSD button, and the BT pairing dialog shows. Also, I see the Bluetooth icon in the OSD of miSTer. But no matter which device I set to pairing mode – I tried a Dual Shock 4, a Dual Sense controller and a keyboard (one after the other) – they will not show up.

I am using a TP-Link UB500 Nano USB Bluetooth 5.0 Adapter Dongle on the MiSTer.

Any suggestions?

Best

Armin

Have you run through the troubleshooting steps on the wiki?

Yes. I see the BT adapter running hcitool dev. But when I scan, nothing will show up. Trying to pair both devices to my computer works within seconds, so I am confident it is not an issue with the controllers.

Try putting the dongle on an extension cable. The further away from the Mister you get the better the reception.

Didn't change a thing, unfortunately.

Is there anybody out there that uses the same adapter? Maybe that exact specimen simply does not work?

I believe it's fairly recent that a kernel module was made for that adapter and at the moment, it's not part of Mister.
If you can find the modules for the current kernel that Mister uses, you can try manually loading them and see what happens, but it will have to be added to Mister's linux build so it will survive future updates.

Thanks for that. I got an ASUS BT adapter today and that worked like a charm. So I can confirm what you are saying.

On a side note: The lag (or almost lack of it) of Dual Sense controllers is awesome. Finally my setup is complete to enjoy a little retro time with little to no preparation.
