New to MiSTer. I have some questions about an arcade set up.

Unread post by mmmmaerk »

I recently put a MiSTer in my Sega Versus City using a MiSTercade.

Is there a way to bring up a monitor calibration screen? I eyeballed both my monitors but I know I could do it better.

I followed this guide for setting up the MiSTercade and it resulted in an SD card loaded with tons of arcade games. I was trying to set up Neo Geo games the other day (mainly for Garou: Mark of the Wolves) but I'm missing some of the files required for Neo Geo games to run. This Github page lists the files I need, but I see that it says I could put the .rbf file in either the Console or Arcade folder. I see it's already in my Console folder. If I put it in my Arcade folder, will the update all script grab the files I need? Sorry if what I just said makes no sense, I'm still trying to get familiar with the folder structure of the MiSTer.

The last issue I've been having might not be related to the MiSTer at all, but if someone has experience with an arcade set up you might be able to help me out. On the player 2 side of the Versus City, the medium punch button (known by the MiSTer as "X") is randomly registered. It happens more often when pushing other buttons or tilting the stick. Here is a video of what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/olIrn52LzbU

Thanks for your help.

For a calibration screen I would use the service menu in one of the arcade cores. the issue with calibrating to one system however is that your monitor does not 1:1 match the monitor used by each of these arcade systems, so you may line it up on one, and then another won't line up at all. Typically there is a "service" on/off switch in the OSD menu for a particular core then you reset to apply and go to the screen calibration of some sort. But the analog video output varied between different systems back then, so your results may vary.

For the roms layout and a ton of other info, I'd suggest looking here:

https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_MiSTer/

Especially this section:

https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_M ... tup/games/

Since this will show you how to transfer games. Each core name has it's own folder in /media/fat/games/$corename (or if you are plugging in the sdcard directly to your pc, it's in /games/$corename).

Lookup "theypsilon update-all" and use that script, then go into it's settings on first start and turn on the bios downloader, it will automatically download the necessary bios files in the correct locations to handle stuff like the neogeo files mentioned.

As for the player 2 side of the versus city, I have no idea. Sounds almost like the inputs are incorrect somewhere... some kind of wiring issue that isn't correct.

For the last one, go to MiSTerAddons' official discord and ask for support, he apparently had some ghosting input issues before that he's helped people with:
